Boiling Problem with Rancilio Silvia M

Recommended Posts

Dear CFUK,

I have a Rancilio Silvia M and I have problems getting it up to full boil. This means I can't brew coffee at a hot enough temp nor can I get it up to hot enough for it to create steam.

It turns on fine and will heat up some before shutting itself completely off.

I have tried replacing all 3 thermostats with some off ebay. It didn't do anything and the symptoms are still the same.

I have no idea what to do as it seems to be working correctly for the most part.

Hope you guys can help me troubleshoot and fix it. Thank you in advance for all your help and guidance

As you have changed the stats, that eliminates a faulty one being the problem.

Scaled up element could prevent full heating (scale acting as insulator) well worth opening to do a visual check and descale if /as necassary.

The thermostats don't fit properly but do appear to work and I could clamp them down as It should be for the most part.

Thanks I will do that soon

Are they the incorrect thermostats that they do not fit correctly ??. Unless they are in clean  close contact they will not work correctly/ accurately. Corrosion / scale on the surface will prevent them working correctly.
