Stovetop kettles

Recommended Posts

I use a steel stovetop kettle on the induction hob. It’s very fast to boil.

My concern with cast iron would be weight and thermal mass (they hold a lot of heat, which is energy going into the kettle rather than the water).

I use the Hario Bueno, which has a steel base and aluminum frame. It's very quick to boil but the disadvantage to iron would be it loses heat much quicker but I use the water straight away so don't see this as a downside.

I use a fellow stagg stovetop - I've got 2 actually, the bigger one for home, and the mini one for in the campervan - i always fill it with what I'm going to use for the brew, so the cooling down doesn't really affect me...
