Wrong shower disc holder on my Gaggia Classic

Recommended Posts

I have just taken delivery of a used GC, and started to take it apart for cleaning etc.

However the shower screen holder is completely different from this I have seen in all the videos/forums. It has a single centre hole with what looks like the grooves for a very wide flat screwdriver. Looks like this will need to be my first upgrade but so far I have been unable to shift the screw and am worried I may do irreperable harm to the machine. I do not seem to be able to import a photo, maybe because I am new member?

The machine was manufr'd 41/2016 in Romania.

Anyone had a similar problem and have a suggestion?

It’s a version 2 so is made differently

If you search for 2015 Gaggia Classic on this forum you’ll find out more

Then sit down and have a stiff drink!

Internals of a V2 are quite different to the "classic" Classic

V2 - https://www.theespressoshop.co.uk/en/GAGGIA-Classic-2015-V2-Diagram-2/cc-212.aspx

I might be wrong about this, but from the V2 diagram it doesn't look like the shower plate holder is removable?  Though the shower screen should be with the usual phillips / pozidrive (depending on the screw) screwdriver.

Does the shower plate holder look like this (inverted)? https://www.mrbean2cup.co.uk/gaggia-classic-v2-2015-ss-lower-boiler-casing-newgenbase-v2-assy
