Help/Advice re; San Remo SR70E 2011 Model

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'll introduce myself properly elsewhere, but I'm new here so thanks for having me admins!

I've recently acquired a 2011 model San Remo SR70E and although I'm very familiar with more recent models, this one doesn't have a few familiar features to me. The main issue is that the grind adjustment wheel doesn't have the usual catch and I'm not sure if it ever had one - when trying to dial in, it is very reluctant to adjust with beans in the hopper and is currently too course.

The burrs don't really look too bad and the grinder has a burr replacement warning feature that isn't going off currently either.

Rightly or wrongly, I've not had to take the beans out to adjust any grinder before... am I daft? Anyone have experience with these?

Thanks all,

MPB

Are you trying to adjust with the grinder running OR stationary ? You may be able to adjust while running but it is better to adjust when empty. Trying to adjust at standstill compresses the existing grounds overloading the motor.

I would suggest you remove the beans & hopper, unscrew the adjuster, clean out the grind chamber and examine the burrs very carefully.

Also thoroughly clean out the adjuster threads on collar and in body.

Sounds like the locking pin is missing. Does it have a hole in the body at the back left area under the adjustment collar?

The difficulty in moving the collar will be down to dirty threads. Full clean and maybe a bit of lube will sort it out.
