Espressos

Just a quick (Or maybe not)  introduction from another newbie

Have been using Nespresso's for a long time now (due to the convenience) but the lockdown has opened up a whole new world of coffee

Have had an aeropress and a couple of V60’s and cafetierres for many years and thought they were all ok but recently struggled with cafetierres being either way to strong or weak so decided to buy some cheap scales, a hand grinder and some good beans.

The difference has been huge. So much so i have almost completely given up on milk based coffees (and was buying a lot of those on a normal working day in London)

The V60 had become my drink of choice and was consistently getting a good drink every time

Spent a long time agonising if i needed an espresso machine, and if so what, and finally made the slightly surprising decision (for me anyway) to go with the Cafelat Robot which was by far the cheapest option. Only had it since Friday afternoon but already had about 10 shots from it! Still very much on the learning curve but really cant see me going for anything else as its so simple and yet the shots have generally been superb and up there with many of the artisan coffee shops in London (bold statement i know), and so much better than the chains

Only thing now is a new grinder. The 1Zpresso JX i have is perfect and simple for pour overs but depending on the bean, and grind, it has been hard work for espresso and i seem to be at a point where i have whittled it down to one of 2 settings but 1 allows the water to go through a bit to easily the other is a bit too much pressure required. Had heard the JX pro is better for espresso but may bite the bullet and buy a Niche or similar, as don't fancy that much effort when i am in a rush for the train
