Cream pot lids

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago I noticed that cream pots are now being sold (across the broad)  without the plastic lid. This was useful if you did not use the whole pot in one go. I suppose it's a plastics and environment thing, which is not a bad thing.

Has anybody come across a purpose made or 'fix' replacement lid that will do the job of keeping the cream fresh and odour free in the 'fridge'?

Is it just the smaller tubs/pods or all of them? I just use and re-use cling film for stuff like that. Not ideal, but not aware of a better solution .(

Could you increase your cream intake to a tub at a time?

You could transfer the cream into a reusable pot with a lid or an old jam jar.

I kept loads of old cream pot lids and I just reuse those until they split.

That is what I am doing, but I am down to my last 2/3.  @catpuccino suggestion looks as if it may have legs.....?

I have found cling film OKish but it lacks a good seal unless a rubber band is used as well. And a simila

It is the 300ml sized pot. So far the smaller clotted cream pots still have the plastic over lid

Just polish off a full tub each sitting. 👌

My other half has noticed pot lids are vanishing, so she keeps her old ones and washes them. She told me off one day when I chucked one in the bin...

What I would *nevvver* do 😏, where the 600ml tubs are concerned, was to assume that they didn't put a lid on it by accident.... and rectify that faux pas for them by acquiring one from a similar sized tub of yoghurt.
