Beans for aeropress?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm after something interesting to drink from my aeropress (and/or v60) i tend to have 2 beans in at a time, one for these two methods and one for espresso so if you have anything interesting for aeropress/v60 i am all ears.

looking to buy about 750g-1kg as i'm going away for 2.5 weeks next week so want to take 500g with me but need some for home use...

i look forward to your suggestions

Black cat coffees ‘Pineapple Candy’ makes a very interesting/nice brew using a clever dripper. Around 10 days post roast I found the flavours to really come out in it.

thats twice the price of the coffee compass' mystery coffee which i was eyeing up. so your recommendation has definitely moved it back to the top

it says its good for v60/chemex but in the short term my main brewing method is going to be aeropress as its what i travel with will i get the goodness out of it with an aeropress?

Nearly any bean is workable in the aeropress.

Adjust dose and length of brew time up to 20mins approx and you can replicate near as, you just wont get the exact same clean profule compared to v60 or chemex - but that is obvious i guess

I don't regularly make an Aeropress these days, but when I do it's 20 mins minimum. It's the best way to use it!

Regarding your comparison with CC mystery roast - those beans are just so unbelievably cheap that if price is your priority you won't find a lot that beats it. The mystery beans are usually okay, but never blow my mind, so I'll always fork out for something more interesting. Fine in milk drinks, but a bit flat in filter for me. Others love them, so definitely give them a go and see!

Pineapple candy was a great bean. Very recommended! It'll work fine for all filter methods, drip or immersion, won't be a problem in the Aeropress.

Lelit MaraX, Niche Zero, MBK Feldgrind, Gene Cafe 101, several brewers...

If it were me i would be choosing different 250g bags to mix it up a bit

Or perhaps a selection pack like from hasbean?

20 min AP brews - yes really deepens a brew
