Bottomless Portafilter - first attempt

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Ok so now I've had the Gaggia Classic for a month or two and have done all the standard upgrades (including MrShades great OPV mod) I thought it was time to be brave enough to try my first extraction with a bottomless Portafilter.

I was quite pleased with the outcome, no nasty jets or splatters, about a 30 second extraction (17.5g dose/34g output), good crema and tasted decent.

Noticed it started off with two streams and eventually merged to one fairly central stream with some ok striping.

As it's my first time doing this I'd appreciate any feedback/comments - does it look ok to you guys??

is that the basket that came with the bottomless portafilter? I may try 17.5g in it, I have been putting a bit more in.

I am new to this, so can't tell you whether what you are doing is right or wrong. I start with the 2 jets merging into 1.
