It is my 50th in November so we are off to Berlin with a few friends.

Not looking for cafe recommendations as I have a list more looking for eating recommendations mainly for evening meals. Good food and a good atmosphere are the two main ingredients I am looking for. We are staying in Mitte however we are willing to travel!

Any recommendations greatly received.

A first-class vegetarian restaurant called Cookies-Cream. I’m not veggie, and it wasn’t cheap, but it was truly fantastic.

+1 for here - it's tucked away but worth, well worth going to. Very friendly, and yes, amazing food.   You'll obviously need to book.

Can't help with a restaurant as never been to Berlin (there was a lovely lakeside restaurant in Chieming but that's closer to Hasi than where you're going & most likely changes hands by now) but you may want to do some light readingbefore you go (just in case).

Well we went and had a great weekend there. Amongst the copious amounts of wine and beer I managed to convince my wife and friends to visit the Barn coffee shop (although they were not convinced that coffee should not be served piping hot...

Bought some of their Edido Yirgacheffe espresso roast home which I am drinking now and is lovely as 'neat', will try in a flat white soon, and is a lovely silky mouthfeel espresso.

Had a V60 in the coffee shop whilst everyone else had a latte (and one hot chocolate) of their Costa Rican Los Acuna coffee which was a lovely cup with amazing sweetness. Few photos of the shop below
