Retention

Recommended Posts

OK I am somewhat of a newb with all this stuff and had my Niche for around 6 months now. After every grind I have been tapping the lid with the palm of my hand to remove any retention. Should I be doing this or should I just leave what retention there is in the machine? Thanks for the advice.

I do when I put beans in and the can underneath and also after I have ground them. Not much falls out.

There is some build up at the top of the chute - don't worry about it as it stays there. Perhaps do when the grinder is due a thorough clean but it will collect grinds again and reduce the dose for a couple of shots. All I do is check weigh and then add a few beans while that is happening. It doesn't for long.

@gr4z There's a difference between retention and exchange. Don't tap it, leave it be. Luckily @DavecUK has covered this in depth for the Niche Zero :)
