Newcomer to the domestic espresso-making scene!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hi to all the members here.

I have been a coffee enthusiast for a long time (owe it to a good friend who took the time to explain things to me) and I am now embarking on a new journey of making good espresso at home.

Have another thread at the new member section if anyone feels like giving me some further guidance.

Hi,

I went a bit wild at the beginning and went for a quickmill verona and mahlkonig v30 for espresso.

It was sublime for a short period of time but now we are moving so I need to downsize. Just my personal advice; start with a Gaggia classic or something similar and a good hand grinder and work your way up. You learn and have fun (and can spend on good coffee!)

Set a sensible budget, easy to buy cheap and then move on, but if you are really stuck on coffee , its an easier journey with some decent kit to start off with. Hand grinding is hard and a gaggia althugh cheap can be horrible at making a consistent shot and  more than one milk drink.

Set out what's important to you, space, ease of use , type of brews and who is gonna be using it.

I write a blog, it's nothing to do with coffee ...
