Burr condition

Recommended Posts

Took part the EK43 to check alignment and it all seems good.

I’m not en expert on this so thought I’d ask. Couple of photos below of the burrs from my EK43. Do they look in good condition?

Still searching for why I can’t get that tasty shit others have with the EK.

Are you not enjoying the shots you make, or do you fear they are not as tasty as others make out ?

Problem solving - whats your coffee's , whats you brew ratios, what machine, what pressure you pulling at.

Prior to the Ek what did you enjoy and brew recipes did you use ?

Is this drinking as espresso or with milk.

Burrs look fine btw, people will send you down the alignment rabbit hole but i still think you can get something good from an out fo the box EK, yes it can get better with alignment .

I just don’t feel I’m getting the same depth of flavour as before.

Before was using ceado e37.

Ratio was was doing 18g - 32-36g

Now more like 18g - 45-50g

Both in around 30 seconds.

As for beans I’ve tried a lots. It’s not that they taste bad per day more they haven’t got any noticeable flavours like I used to get. If that makes sense.

Trying pulling your shots a bit longer and a bit faster.

Are you perhaps confusing taste with strength and or mouthfeel. For me They were lighter shots, more clarity, hard to communicate but the ek for me didn't make espresso plus extra taste. It made a different type of espresso.

I'll Drop you a pm too.

perhaps your preference isnt about flavour , it's about the strength of the drink you like, You prefer the intensity of a stronger shot that the brew ratio of the e37 made.

Not everyone's preference is for potential higher EY over strength of shot .

Id be tempted to pull a longer , faster shot , it will still be a weaker shot but it's worth trying .

18>55 to 60 20- 25 seconds .

I guess I almost need someone to show me what a good EK shot tastes like and decide if it’s for me for there.

Anyone near London or Yorkshire (for the next two weeks) that could show me?

I think I had an ek shot from Maude roasters and it was great.
