Gaggia Classic Descale Advice

Recommended Posts

After 5 years of little use and, during the last 6 months, moderate use, last night I decided to descale for the first time!

I used Puly. After running the solution through the boiler, I ran fresh water through multiple times and each time there was still a fair bit of sediment in the water. I was perhaps expecting the water to be clear by fresh water flush 2 or 3.

What does this mean? Should I run another Puly solution through to try and get rid of the excess which might have built up over the years or keep running fresh water through until it clears?

Many thanks

I followed the Whole Latte Cafe video which recommended letting the solution stand in the boiler for 15 minutes before flushing through. I would try de scaling again before you resort to stripping it down.

@Caffeine fan, I ran it through again. After 3 tanks of flushing after the descale solution the sediment started to reduce. Only a very tiny bit of sediment coming out now which I can live with for the sake of stripping it all.
