Barista Training Nottingham

Recommended Posts

Evening all, got our sage barista express yesterday and its a great piece of kit. However mine and my partners skills are lacking to say the least. I spent a good few hours fiddling around trying shot after shot and milk after milk. In the past 24 hours I've gone through a whole bag of beans! I'm pulling a drinkable shot only about 60% of the time, I'm either not tamping enough or tamping too much which I'm sure will come with time. Milk i am borderline hopeless on and just can't seem to get the paint like look. Not that milk will be for me as I drink espresso or americanos. I did also get lucky earlier as when i changed to the new bag of beans I knocked the grind size up and dose amount down and got a perfect 18g and ideal coarseness.

Basically I want to take myself and my other half down to a little barista training course in town (Nottingham). Where would you all recommend as I am aware of quite a few places offering them but not sure which'll be best.

Few of the cafes in Nottingham do barista courses, I've not been to any of them but go have a look for ones at the specialty and 2oo degrees..

Do you have some scales? Are you weighing you dose and output? These are the building blocks for making consistent espresso. Tamping pressure is rarely the variable that makes or breaks a good shot.

I write a blog, it's nothing to do with coffee ...

I was kindly bought the intermediate barista course at 200 Degrees in Nottingham.  It was a great 4hours with their head of coffee and came away with new skills that's transformed how I make espresso on my Sage Barista Express.  The company are very pro Sage appliances so managed to learn a few things specific for my machine.
