Hi.

I recently bought a Sage Duo-Temp Pro which has a chunky water filter in the water tank. It's nearing the time to replace it but checking on the Sage website the replacement filter is nearly £14, which seems a lot every three months. Do I have to use this filter or can I use water from my Brita jug instead? I don't want to invalidate the warranty or cause any harm to the machine. Any advice would be welcome.

I removed the filter from mine and I have a filtered water tap, which has 2 filters, one removed limescale and softens the water, the other removed contaminants. I'm not sure how much cheaper it will work out, these cartridges last 6 months and I have the added benefit of filtered drinking water.

I think a lot of other people use some kind of water filter jug.

Hello, just went to the sage website and registered my product with them for the warranty. Once I put in my details and confirmed I received a email back from them telling me the following.

Dear Barney Stinson,

Good for you on choosing the new Sage The Barista Express (With Temp Control Milk Jug)! I hope you’ve been showing off your barista skills!

Limescale is a common issue in the UK for most appliances but don’t be concerned, the water filter in your machine’s water tank will keep scale out so you can continue making great quality coffee at home! Like any high quality investment, it requires maintenance so we will be sending you a water filter every 3 months for a year’s worth of protection so you don’t forget. Simple!

If only I could afford a rocket and a Gemma roasting machine, that would be living the dream.
