It could've been so easy... [enter preferred curse here] ...ordered a petrol powered MSR stove now. Had one ages ago, lent someone never to be seen again.

Kelly kettles are wonderful, but take up some space.

No intentions to cook though, coffee is all I want

In that case, just search for 12v kettle on amazon.

oh don't get me started pal! That's exactly what I did in the first place!!! And that stupid search engine displays 230V within 12V results and gets you conforkingfused..........!!!

But, as I said - went for an MSR stove now. Arrives 25 April, hopefully

I remember trying a couple of 12v kettles. They took AGES to boil

I am a giant!

At least when it comes to sanding, which looks like the only way to progress here...

Oh and I went outside, not only to avoid a messy workshop, but also to catch some tan

Im going to guess at 2 pack sprayed bar top lacquer - normal paint stripper wont touch it. I would be tempted to veneer over it ;)

while an additional layer wouldn't create any space issues, it would require a vacuum bag...

also, the originality... oh well, it's in such poor condition anyways

Screw originality. Just replace it with a solid lump of walnut or mahogony.

Haha, Jim...

btw, do we think it's wise to even out bumps with sand paper, fill broken areas with putty (stay below clear coat level) and/or paint over everything? Me thinks give it a try!

After all, getting totally rid of that obnoxious clear coat is just immensely time consuming....

On with the roots of all evil...

Those in the middle are front door trim, with the driver's side being the worst of them all. Especially around the power window switches for obvious reasons. I had to completely sand down to bare veneer just because they looked so awful.

The small parts being lateral dashboard trim, they were meh but just very few cracks. Far left are rear door trim with more but only minor cracks. Going to paint it all tomorrow

Can’t you just spray it all Matt black?
that actually is just half a thought away by now...

But first things first.

Welcome to Hasi's paint shop!

With everything prepared so nicely, what could go wrong?

Plenty as it turned out. Wood paste didn't even come close to final wood colour. I spare you any images, but just to let you know: aw-forking-ful. Now entering sandman once again...

Epoxy glue mixed with sawdust (from the piece you're working on) makes a good colour matched filler.

That's actually very smart (and a long time ago I think I've heard similar...)

However, need to watch my timing or the journey is not gonna happen

Will think about a solution tomorrow...

Just an idea if it goes wrong then either paint or apply leather texture material or take to your carpenter mate and get him to add a layer of new vernier
