Hi I’m interested in upgrading my grinder after using my libertial Mc2 for a year. I was looking at the Eureka Mignon Specialtia, then I thought I’d up the budget and get the Niche Zero and a minute ago I noticed the Mazzer mini and Super Jolly are within the same Budget. I’m using a Gaggia classic with Pid and other upgrades so I’m happy with that at the moment. And advice or help would be great.

Well the Niche is new, and you have a warranty. And you can switch between Filter and Espresso at any given time.

SAGE IS NOT A UPGRADE

ive seen how popular the Niche is on here but the Mazzers are in the majority of the cafes I go to so that’s got me questioning what would be the best to continue my coffee journey. Thanks for your help mate I’ll probably put my name down on a Niche.

A large part of the reason you see mazzers in cafes might be down to things like durability, space being less of an issue and the need to work non-stop during the day. Some of these things might be good for you (e.g. durability), some maybe less so (Space) and some might be bad (if you don’t run it all day then the coffee beans in the hopper will get stale). There is definitely a trade off when considering commercial equipment for home use. Some of this can be modded away (if you are handy) but sometimes you just have to live with it.

You'd fairly easily get a second hand Super Jolly for about half the money of a new Niche, if that makes any odds to you.

Niche is a better grinder for home use, imo. Super Jolly will definitely be a step up from the MC2, though.
