This was my last effort of around 6 pours. Only had a sip out of each but I’m super caffeinated now - don’t think there’s another tulip in me - hands shaking too much :)

Not sure that ‘barred’ is the way I’d term it. It’s a FUN competition for non professionals. Professionals, as I understand it, are people who regularly serve in coffee shops and the like, not previous amateur winners. The same condition that has applied to all the previous tournaments.

If you’ve already submitted your chosen pour in one of the sessions then you’ve entered the tournament. Great. You can’t expect to keep on entering each session. In my view, the best artiste could end up winning multiple prizes.

The rules that accompanied the launch were perfectly clear.

I don't disagree that allowing professionals to enter would change things. Doesn't really matter what you term it, barred fits well enough for me to understand what MM meant.

Likewise those who posted a photo on the first heat have been 'barred' from entering on subsequent heats denying them the chance to show a pour their happier with. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought you could enter any heat you wanted (unless you're a professional) without being blocked from further heats.

I agree.

I only read the rules in the original thread today so unless they changed after the first heat, which I doubt was the case, it seemed clear to me from the start that you could only enter one heat of your choice and that you could only submit one picture in that heat, of what you chose as your best pour.

I assume this was to make it as fair as possible and accessible to anyone who could make one of four heats rather than ruling out anyone who, like Joey for example, wasn’t able to take part in a particular session for work, personal or any other reason.

Well, you will have to enlighten me as to what I meant because I have no flipping idea! Do you mean Hasi? Do I sound like someone to you who would send a bar towel, enter into a conflab with Snakehips over a frame, and goodness knows all the positive comments I made, to than say (not in so many words) that he is barred? I assumed everyone knew, as in previous throw downs, that people like Scotford, Gary etc, serving coffee regularly, would leave it to the forum members who fancied having fun in an amateur comp to take part.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL so, if Joey 24dirt fancied taking part in all 4 he could have done? Anyone can post any number of photos after they’ve made their entry, as in the previous comp, but once they’ve entered a pour that’s their entry. Do 8 pours, choose the one you want, and enter it - I can’t understand what the problem is.

I did say 'if there is anything anyone isn’t clear about then ask'! It was so difficult wording it, I honestly thought I’d got it covered. Thank flipping Europe I’m not trying to write the exit agreement.

If anyone honestly feels it isn’t fair, let’s abandon it and move on.

Since I was replying ti you, I assumed (wrongly as it turns out) that you knew what you were talking about. Perhaps 'non-eligable' would be a better term but to me it amounts to the same thing. Maybe you should have just forced the proffesionals & previous LAC winners to pour with their off hand instead!

I'm not saying the rules weren't unclear. I just misunderatood them is all & it does explain why this heat only had 2 entrants instwad of the plethora in the firat heat.

Hope ther are no hard feelings. You're doing a fantastic job wirhout any recompense.

Absolutely! I really don’t understand why anyone should have a problem thinking it through.

Well done for taking part too!

I think it is all a bit of fun with some extremely generous prizes, and I think some people can underestimate how much organising some things take (not specifically talking about this thread, but at work). As Mildred said, it’s also hard to word things to cover all bases- even though most did seem to understand the rules.

I was a tad surprised only two entered today, but perhaps that’s my naivety of being relatively new to the forum! Then again, I was housebound today, looking after my other half after her Christmas work party last night, so perhaps had a less busy Saturday than others
