LSOL October - Atkinsons [Lancaster]

Recommended Posts

There is also the music room in lancaster, so owned by atkinsons. They offer v60 there as pour over. They also very kindly allow me to display my photos there too. :)

I write a blog, it's nothing to do with coffee ...

Quality place to go visit and if you spend more than a certain amount (£30 or £35?) which is easy done, few cups / beans / quality teas, you get a free coffee of your choice definitely in the Hall as that's where I redeemed mine :)

Sarah, when she drinks tea, will only drink their Lancaster blend loose tea, so I have to call in every time when driving back from Glasgow, shame...:)

Not made it round to the music room yet but if they displaying Martins photo's then will make sure I do next visit instead of the Hall.

Now really looking forward to this one ( had a cracking Nicaraguan back in September from them and the blends make for good "comfort" coffee's)

John

The Music Room is a great little quiet venue on pretty much a back alley. It's only a few minutes' walk from The Hall, so if the Hall is full (which it often is) it's a good alternative. It still feels like a bit of a secret!

Were these dispatched yesterday, then? Should we expect a knock on the door tomorrow?

I haven't had the nod to say they were definitely dispatched today or not but I know they were aiming to dispatch this week. Don't hold your breath. I'll make enquiries on Monday

I knew it would happen eventually....not all the info on the coffee has been removed from the label. Taste notes, process and altitude all still on.

Bit of a shame but maybe we can still try to come up with our own notes. Still very much looking forward to diving into these

Never mind - Atkinsons are a great roaster, and it makes a change to try and adjust grind and extraction to particular tasting notes for a change - for me its like being thrown a lifebuoy for a month instead of flailing around as usual

At least we still have the origin to fail dismally at guessing at.

Have to admit ive jumped in - as ive just run out of beans -bags of flavour from an aeopress - but think they will be fine in a spro as well - I know I shouldn't and best let them sit for 7 days, but when your confronted with a jar of Nescafe you would jump in too.

interesting little beans

Does the bag have a roast date on it, per chance?

Indeed it does. It's on the back between the altitude & the weight.

Almost forgot. Mine's arrived

I think they are washed as well, although I was also thinking honey processed.. Nope, I'll stick with washed on this one...

Judging from the colour of your brew, I'll take a punt they were grown at 1,788 MASL!

Red card. 2 more shots of Rocko in the hopper. Need a day off work to go and pick them up or wait till sat. Think I'll bung my aeropress beans in as a stopgap so I get these at their best without going cold turkey. Now there's a novel tasting note, just in time for Christmas!
