Help finding a Silicone Group Seal for Brasilia Portofino

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm hoping that somebody might be able to help me track down a silicone group seal, for my Brasilia Portofino single group with the series 2 grouphead, please. The Group Seal it uses are 57 x 71 mm and 8mm thick. I seem to have to change it for a new one, about once a month as it starts dripping around the edges of the portafilter. I know it's a quick and easy job, it's just irritating having to do it so often.

I've tried to track a silicone one down, to no avail. Found one listing on ebay for a Cafelat for Brasilia and he just sent me a bog standard black rubber one and denied that it wasn't silicone when I queried it.

Today I tried fitting an e61 silicone seal, and no amount of pushing would make it fit!

I've included a pic of my machine in case it helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Patrick

The E61 seal won't fit the series 2 grouphead. That requires the Brasilia specific seal 57 x 71 x 8mm.

Don't think that there is a suitable Cafelat silicone seal available (Brasilia went bust many years ago).

There is another rubber o-ring located behind the shower holder, which may be a cause of the leak.

Hi, many thanks for that. Yes, I'd seen there was an O ring and was going to order one up, I've been trying to wait until I need a few other bits to make the postage worthwhile.

I didn't think the e61 would fit either, but someone had the same machine as mine for sale and had managed to fit an e61 seal, so I thought was worth a try, no idea how they managed to get it to fit though, this was miles off!

There are 3 different Brasilia group heads, all with different group seals.

A Cafelat seal for some other make of machine (Marzocco, Simonelli, Rancilio) may fit, but it's a case of "suck it & see"....

Hi, Just thought I would say, I took a punt on the Cafelat E61 seal. Snug but fits! I bought the blue one, but think I should have gone red, as handle could be a bit closer to the 6 O'clock position. Also changed the O ring that sits behind the shower screen.

Seems all good for now so hopefully thats a job done. Although, I will buy the red seal in the next couple of days so that the portafilter fits in at a better lock in position.
