ECM Barista - Water Tank

Quick question. When it comes to emptying and refilling the tank, is it as simple as lifting the plastic tank out and placing back in? I appreciate it can be filled in situ, but what about emptying? I'm interested in a Barista, but coming from a Gaggia Classic, which is very straightforward to empty the "stale" water from, I'd like to be sure the Barista equally as straightforward...

For what it’s worth. I did a similar upgrade and opted to move to bottled water only on the ecm. (I didn’t fancy trying to descale it, it’s not that much money and it tastes better...)


On bottled water the tank never seems to get stale (scales marks or coffee oils) like regular tap water did on the classic. I now only ever fill it up in-situ.

A little late to answer your question, but.. it is very easy. Personally, I lubricate the sealing "o" ring with a smidgen of silicon grease (food grade, there's a guy on Ebay sells very small pots of it) the tiniest amount is enough to give a lovely slide into place and to remove.

If you can’t tip it up/pour it out then a large syringe works really well for slurping up water out of anywhere!!
