Really pleased to hear this. Poor guy- catheters are horrible, having had two for *very* short times post babies, I would probably have gone loopy with them for more than 48 hours. Glad to hear he's going when he should and not when he shouldn't.

If anyone is leaking when they shouldn't I have a couple of friends who produce (professionally) washable continence products for adults, which are well worth the investment from a comfort and breathability PoV.

Did someone say coffee?

We’ve been to see the surgeon for Ian's 6 week post op appointment tonight.

It was so good to have it confirmed from the pathology report that the cancer had indeed been contained fully within the prostate capsule. There will now follow a series of 3 monthly (then 6 monthly, for a couple of years) psa blood checks to establish the base reading and to ensure there are no further increases in the psa level over time.

With no no side effects from the surgery, his water works and everything else are all back to normal, it feels kind of unreal that just a few short weeks ago we walked into a consulting room to hear the words you never imagine you will hear (cancer? That happens to other people) and now we have walked out of a consulting room knowing he is cancer free - well!, it feels mind blowing, really!

PS: The surgeon kindly prescribed Ian some viagra-type substitute so I may be away for some tiiiiiiiiiiiii . . . . . !!!!!!!

Very pleased to hear Ian given all clear although when I read the above post out in its entirety to Sarah she did say ( with a twinkle in her eye) " does the M in Mildred M stand for Mucky?"

:)

Seriously, enjoy your (not) week end

Wonderful outcome , make sure Ian doesn’t go too close to those grinders once he has taken his little blue tablet or you may be back up the hospital sooner than you think .

seriously though great news .
