LSOL October - Round Hill Roastery

Recommended Posts

Introducing October's roaster with a toaster Round Hill Roastery

I'm sorry this post is going up a bit early, as we're very much in the middle of September's coffee. I want to take nothing away from that great coffee!

The reason for this being early is I'm going off travelling for a month and want to get this sorted before I go. I'm leaving you all in @Daren's capable hands.

I just want to say the people at Round Hill Roastery have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Something about a postage label fetish????

For this month Round Hill are offering us one coffee but two different roast profiles.

Espresso roast - Pink bags

Filter roast - Blue bags

All subscribers and guests will need to say what roasts they want. You can choose and mix in quantities of 250G. A few people getting 1KG of one roast would help...

We'll do this in a Google Sheet Spreadsheet available here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sW4iouRhf8SquZjuqXKyYIFtdZNVB2ncm1w00m4qJUg/edit?usp=drivesdk

Guest slots for this one are £15 delivered for 500G

Please add your names below and specify what roast you want:

Well - I'm going or 1/2 and 1/2 "just to see".....

I am (really) looking forward to the discussion on this one.

Lets just say that I am unconvinced about "espresso" and "filter" profiles...

I think I am right in thinking that I have drunk every coffee bean that I have ever had as both espresso and filter (+ aeropress + sowden + etc for some of them)

There are so many variables in making a cup via either method and (obviously) so many variations in an individuals taste that I really cannot give much credence to a profile for a specific method.

I don't doubt that different roast profiles will alter "some" (or even all) of the characteristics of a bean but ground coffee beans put through different brewing methods will produce "coffee".... Some I'll like (and you might not) and some I won't (but you might)

There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Manic Obsession"

I'm excited for this. Roundhill are the house roaster at Cult Espresso which is one of my favourite shops here in Edinburgh so I'm familiar with there stuff and its good :)

Even though I'm just getting the blue filter beans, I am very interested to see how people's experience with espresso compares to filter. :)
