Camera Lens Mounts - Camera/brand Compatibility

Recommended Posts

I know some of you are into your cameras (if not expert you know a lot more than me).

Can you tell/identify what Brand of Camera a lens will fit?

I have a couple of SIGMA lenses.

Both have (mount) caps marked For SA/KPR (and arrows/marks on cap)

SA = circa 11 o'clock

KPR = circa 1:30

but have slightly different mounts -

One has a lot of contacts - These may be related to being Auto/Motorised (or NOT) as the one without them is a big-bugger

and an additional "sticky-out-bit" - to adjust aperture?

I have tried to look on the old inter web but it is leaving me more confused :-(

SA & KPR might be "the same" or entirely different (according to some sites).....

I can supply photos and/or tell you "anything" (that is obvious on the physical lenses)

FYI

Lens 1: SIGMA 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 DL

Lens 2: SIGMA MIRRO-TELEPHOTO 1:8 f=600mm

All help/info gratefully received

TIA

I think Lens 2 fits older Nikons.

I may be totally incorrect!

KPR I believe refers to Pentax.

I think you will find the letters refer to Sigma mount and Pentax /Richo camera mounts = older type mounts.

Pentax K mount? I believe the K mount was the first bayonet mount after the M42 screw mount. I have a few Pentax Spotmatics with Carl Zeiss M42 lenses, and the next cameras to follow this was the Pentax K1000 (which you couldn't turn the lightmeter off on - you had to replace the lens cap otherwise the battery went dead..)

I dunno - that says:

Mounts: AF: Sigma, Minolta, Nikon D, Pentax, and Canon. Manual Focus: Minolta MD and Pentax

Which is about as confusing as I started :-(

Sorry!

If it is that lens, in the link, then it's good to go on the camera bodies listed (auto focus on the first 4 or manual on the other 2).

Can you post a photo, I'm sure we can identify for sure then!

It looks quite/a lot like that lens - but it looks quite/a lot like a lot of lenses I found :-(

Do you want a photo of the mount-ie bit specifically?

(I can show the general lens as well)

If you can stretch to two photos that would be great :)

Nikon screw on anti-clockwise btw. I went from owning several Canons (EOS 1000Fn, EOS 100, EOS 5) to going to Nikon, urly because yiu can put any Nikon lens on any Nikon camera (whether it meters or not is a different matter). So I bought a Nikon F4E, then a D1x and now have a D300. I sold my F4E and wish I'd kept it now, even though it was film camera. You can also get a lens mount that fits on M42 lenses to connect to Nikon (and others I guess). I can now use my Pentax M42 mount bellows and CZ lenses on my D300. I also believe you can get lens mounts to fit Hasselblad lenses on 35mm cameras... (I've owned 2 'blads... Nothing comes close)

Definitely K mount for Pentax / Ricoh. The 70-300 is not a bad lens for its price second hand (around 100 euro), but there are at least 3 versions of this lens, some better than the other, also sample quality variability was a bit high with these older cheaper lenses.

The mirror lens, is it something like this? These are, as some reviewer put it, 600 mm if you are desperate..not very sharp, awkward to focus, with the doughnut bokeh, the only advantage is small size and weight compared to telescopic construction 600 mm lens.

The peculiarity of espresso beverage is the simultaneous presence of three dispersed phases coexisting within a matrix, namely a concentrated solution of salts, acids, sugars, caffeine and many other hydrophilic substances. These phases are: an emulsion of oil droplets, a suspension of solid particles and an effervescence of gas bubbles, which evolves into a foam.

Hi, these are almost certainly made for Pentax K bayonet fit, which was licensed pretty generously to other manufacturers and used not only by Pentax but Ricoh, Practica and just about all SLR makers except for Canon, Nikon, Olympus and a few others large enough to support their own bayonet design.

If that is the case you will be able to use those lenses with full functionality on any of the old manual film cameras from Pentax or other K bayonet cameras ever made. They should be usable on virtually all of the current/recent Pentax digital cameras but with some metering and exposure mode restrictions compared to using Pentax 'A' series lenses and later.

There are 100s of these old K mount cameras around in charity shops and photo stores which you could try fitting the lenses to. Or if you are near the Chilterns I have a few Pentax cameras you could test on. Or loan/buy/swap if you want to use the lenses yourself.
