Twenty two years ago – I gave up a 50 a day smoking habit and replaced my morning cigarette with coffee. One of the best moves I ever made. As the years have progressed however I have searched for a better quality of coffee. My favourite coffee memories are the truly perfect cups that used to be delivered at (seemingly) every time I had breakfast in any French hotel. Sadly no longer the case. I have a stove top – which I adore and use that for the basis of all my coffee when at home. I have arrived here because I am eager to learn about coffee – favourite less known blends and to discover how people enjoy there coffee – and new ways of preparing it.

My first question is – can anyone recommend an independent café in the West End of London – I am heading up there for the day next Tuesday – usual pre Christmas stuff bit of shopping, gallery or two theatre in the evening. I will need my morning fix and would love to try somewhere new.

Many thanks in advance. Simon

I'll throw Tapped and Packed and Lantana into the mix as well. Both worth a visit
