  1. My Vesuvius arrived yesterday all the way from southern Italy - many thanks to Dave and Paolo for facilitating! It's not yet out of the box, so I will be posting some pics but that will have to wait until next week unfortunately. My first minor challenge (after heaving it into the kitchen - it is heavy!) is to sort out the power lead. The supplied lead has a European style moulded plug with 2 pins. Can any Vesuvius owners or @DavecUK advise - is this the normally supplied power lead, i.e. European style rather than UK style?. The lettering on the plug end of the lead states: 16A 230V
  2. Which would you choose? I have managed to acquire both at the same price and need to make a decision on which to keep. Had the LM for about 6 months and just set up the Vesuvius and pulled the first few shots. Clearly quite different machines in some respects and imagine there will be some clear views on preference. Going to spend a few weeks with both and I’ll post my findings and thoughts as I experiment more!
  3. Bought on the forum directly from Paolo at ACS via DavecUK's thread, landed in Jan-18 (practically brand new, had only gathered dust at an exhibition) I've had this on my kitchen worktop alongside my linea mini for 5 months, alternating each day between the two machines Completely unnecessary of me to have two machines for so long in my small kitchen, it was rather indulgent and I was somewhat indecisive. My wife has finally had enough and I've decided to keep the linea mini, so looking to pass the Vesuvius on to a new owner Its a fantastic machine, as many will agree on the forum. I'v
  4. Following my purchase of Vesuvius via DaveC on forum its arrived from Italy today. I have spent the evening setting up and running few shots through. First impressions are everything and just opening the shipping box is an experience, with the lovely box full of various accessories. It comes with 3 portafilters one being a bottomless plus a nice tamper.
  5. So, I've bought a Vesuvius and am very excited about its arrival on Wednesday. In order to minimise the 'what the hell have you bought' effect (I may have downplayed its size somewhat), I'm planning on slipping it quietly into place where the Gaggia Classic currently sits. I may have a problem though: height. Official stats for the Vesuvius put it at 415mm high, the question is: is that at the back of the machine or the front, where the facia is angled up above the warming tray? I have 405mm to play with before I have to start modifying furniture and that would rather defeat the stealth
  6. Only 1 machine left be quick of you want it! ACS have become paid up forum advertisers and for all of us it's good news. ACS seem to love European exhibitions and because they build other types of drink machines, slushie, frozen yoghurt and whatever machines, they attend a lot of exhibitions. There are 3 Vesuvius pressure profiling machines coming up after another Coffee show, they will be available in 1 weeks time. ACS (Advanced Coffee Solutions) had a stall and built some Vesuvius machines to display, so a few bargains have come up. I have been asked to suggest a price for these it
  7. Thanks to @DavecUK and @Paolo_Cortese this beauty arrived this week. It's so easy to produce much better shots with the Vesuvius. My extractions went from around 18% on the NS Oscar 2 to 22% with the Vesuvius. On top of that it also looks amazing and is a real joy to use - thanks guys
  8. If you want a machine claim it on the thread, stating clearly which machine you want. 1st come first served. PM me with your e-mail details and delivery address, I will then forward your details to ACS so you can deal with ACS directly for payment, delivery etc.. I will update the thread with the machines remaining as they get claimed. One last exhibition display Vesuvius machines is available. I have been asked to suggest a price for these items and allow them to be offered to forum members. a great opportunity to by surplus stock from the exhibition..Disclaimer, I ge
  9. So my vesuvius has developed this mark on top & side of the group head. It seems to me to be coming out through the surface, if that makes sense. It also aligns with a lug of the portafilter. Has anyone else seen this similar and if so, were you able to get rid of the mark or is it a manufacturing defect? Second question: has anyone replaced the wood on the portafilter handles and the toggles? The OEM wood really does detract from the overall impression of quality.

  11. Hi all, I am planing to sell my Vesuvius, and while I was inspecting it, I noticed some corrosion at the bottom of the machine, and what I think is a small leak from the smaller boiler. I bought it used on this forum January 2017, and machine is working fine. I want it to be in perfect condition for its new owner. Do you know of any engineers around Newcastle upon Tyne who could pick it up from my place for repair? How much would a repair cost me (I know it is difficult to say without seeing it, but I need an approximate quote or a range)? Alternatively, is any of you techn
  12. I seem to be missing a spring in my step!! So, I opened up the lower part of my group last night because I was a bit concerned the group wasn't draining quite like it used to, and was very suprised to find no spring in the top part of the lower chamber. Is this normal? I've got spare springs, so can replace if necessary, but didn't want to put one in if there wasn't one there before. I can't get into the bottom part of the lower chamber at all, have had to order another set of adjustable wrenches to provide counter-torque, its a complete pain in the butt.
  13. They have had a customer pay the deposit and then go silent. Perhaps , died perhaps bankrupt...I don't really care. This leaves 3 prebuilt machines available (2 x Vesuvius and One Vostok 2 group). The only option is to have a group pressure gauge added (as an extra) to the Vesuvius machines and it might just be dropped into the box, not fitted (don't know, don't care).. The Vesuvius machines come with stainless steel pipework If you want a machine claim it on the thread, stating clearly the options you want. 1st come first served. 14. Other than the hilarity of searching for “Vesuvius Exploded View” if you forget to put espresso in the search. I have not had much luck finding something like this. If anyone happens to know where to find one I am curious about some of the details and I’m crazy enough to want to mess with the electronics inside. Thus, also a circuit diagram would be cool, granted if I got one I could just trace it out. I really like the Fluid-o-Tech's integrated controller with a 0-5V control link, as a simple way to get involved with a normally very complicated system for electronics. I’ve also not
  15. There is a single Vesuvius available, was built for an exhibition....can't say more than that, a request prompted me to lis If you want it claim it on the thread, stating clearly the options you want. 1st come first served. PM me with your e-mail details and delivery address, I will then forward your details to ACS so you can deal with ACS directly for payment, delivery etc.. I will update the thread with the machines remaining as they get claimed. The prices you see are the prices you pay, with no additional charges. Remember you have to make payment in Euros. 16. This post is based on blog post from Scot Rao https://www.scottrao.com/blog/2018/7/18/advanced-mode-on-the-de1 I tried to mimic the bloom phase on Vesuvius machine as follows: 1. Program the preinfusion to P1 program straight 2 bar (max pressure for preinfusion 3bar) for 10s 2. Program the brew program to P2 whatever you want. For exapmple straight 9 bar or 6 bar or my favorite, from 6 to 4 bar in 20s with ek43. 3. Set P1, lock in the portafilter and start the brew process. 4. After 10s the P1 program ends. 5. LEAVE the handle of the group in top brew position. 6. Let the co
  17. I provide below a description of the process I went through to solve the problem of a ruptured brew boiler heating element on my Vesuvius. I’d had the Vesuvius for maybe 2 months when I started to notice the brew water had become very cloudy. When I was sure the water was actually always coming out cloudy, I stopped using the machine and asked for help on the forum. Whilst everyone was helpful, I was convinced the problem was not the obvious: needed a good clean, e.g. start backflushing regularly; what kind of water are you putting into it? The water was just too cloudy for these
  18. Hi there I'm buying a Vesuvius on the ACS Christmas deal, which I'm incredibly excited about! I have a question about the steam arm, which usually comes on the left hand side. It is possible to swap it with the hot water and put it on the right hand side, which I'm tempted to do as I'm right handed and previous experience with a steam arm on the right hand side has felt intuitively correct. However, I notice in a Bellabarista document from way back when a prototype was tested that the steam wand was initially on the right hand side but its position was reversed. So - does anyone
  19. I have 3 machines for sale because a small retail customer cancelled the order £2150 New Vesuvius, Stainless steel outside PTFE standard pipes inside...2 machines £2400 New Vesuvius, Stainless Steel, stainless pipework inside....1 machine I can add an E61 group pressure gauge to any machine for an extra 16 gbp. Subsidised delivery cost is £20 (this is for the UK normal postal addresses) for other destinations especially outside Europe, there may be an extra charge, or if you are in one of those special places where you know postage is ver
  20. It hurts to write this post After two bouts of car trouble in consecutive weeks it looks like I’m going to need to replace my car - I’m at the stage where I can’t trust it anymore and I have a daily 40 mile commute. So.... I am offering for sale my very recently bought machine and grinder Acs Vesuvius / Matt black £2,000 Mythos Clima Pro / Matt Black £1,300 The Vesuvius is in brand new condition and due to me being out of the country for part of the time I’ve owned it and then the car trouble it’s had very minimal use. It has copper and ptfe pipework and the
  21. Now this seems very Deja Vu (@Matbat). I have both machines. Just acquired the LMLM in a deal I couldn't really refuse. So, I have been given three weeks to decided which I can keep, as unfortunately I am not allowed both, which is mean, but I guess fair enough. I haven't even pulled a shot with the LM yet, will be doing that later. But I love the V. In fact I really love it. Its easy, despite having technicalities built into it, but is an extremely capable machine as I think most would agree. I have only ever had one issue with the V, and that was a recent pressure release vi
  22. I've got a steady drip coming from what I think is the three way solenoid (but could be very wrong in the name of the part). It's enough to create a nice puddle under the machine by the time it's warmed up and there's also a reduced flow through the group. Attached are some pictures, the one with the red circle indicates the part that's leaking, and the one with the arrow indicates where the leak is originating from. It appears to be coming from the brass section itself rather than the connection between the steel and brass parts, although it can be hard to tell precisely because of the p
  23. Here we go! I'm going o sell one of my machines from my private collection, unused Vesuvius wrapped carbon fiber version, unique with a mod steam wands. PTFE version. Here some pics. 2650 £ shipped. feel free to contact me for any details. Thanks Paolo This is a link to the user guide done by Davec of your forum https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/vesu...ile.php?id=148
  24. I thought I would start my own thread as I have a few bits I have been asked to do . Also those that are not interested can ignore it . The first handle here is for a Vesuvius, made out of Blackwood . It is very hard but machines well and the picture is of it sanded to 600 grit with no finish . A bit of research is needed into what finish will be used as the wood is dense and has natural oils . On the internet it is suggested to sand up to 2000 grit and polish ..

    Ambient Vesuvius

I've decided to sell my Ambient Vesuvius. I'll add photos and further information shortly. It's been looked after well with regular cleaning, servicing and back flushing and having only been used with filtered soft water and bottled. Cosmetically it's in good condition. Various scratches commensurate with use. I have the original accessory box but not the shipping crate so I would prefer collection from Sale, South Manchester or potentially I am willing to travel a reasonable distance if the sale has been agreed in advance. The plumbing kit and portafilters that it came w
