  2. Finally seizing the chance to have a day in London, and having read so many good reviews and seen many tweets about Dose Espresso I simply had to pay James and his staff a visit. We were spotted loitering around outside and given a friendly welcome.(the place was heaving and it was standing room only) Shuffling inside we made ourselves at home and shared a table with a young couple who didn't seem to mind at all. The first thing I noticed was the shiny new FB80 on the counter and a decent menu, not only containing coffee, but an enticing selection of food items from Beas of Bloomsbury (on twitter @beas_bloomsbury). You have to try the blondie - a creamy white chocolate fudge brownie, not too sweet but devillishly good! 6 shots of SquareMile Coffee later and I was a happy bunny, having experienced decent service (which is soooo hard to find) from welcoming and knowledgable staff. Check out the specials via the twitter feed @dose_espresso and find out whose coffee is making a guest appearance from time to time. I bought my wife and a friend along and we stayed well over an hour, reading the books, the paper, talking coffee with James and generally enjoying the ambiance. Dose is a well thought out cafe, serving excellent coffee, great food and is a place that I hope to visit again soon. Whether you stay for 5 minutes or an hour, you are sure to enjoy the company, the food and most importantly the coffee.

  4. This little gem floated across my twitter screen and I thought it worthy of exposure (quite literally in this case) Madness Taken outside @pumphreyscoffee Can anyone top that for madness?
  5. So um, I'm not really that clued in when it comes to forums... give me blogs and twitter and google and I'm set... but forums I find overwhelming... However, I am on a quest to find astounding coffees, and specifically that are available in the UK - there are loads of good ones out there, which I have tried, but I want something that will rip my face off with flavour... So welcome any recommendations! Oh, and hello... Bek

  10. WO here. Okay, my name is Warren Owen, but everyone calls me "WO" (pronounced "whoa"). You can follow me on twitter at twitter.com/WOnet I live in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, across the pond, and in the middle of the desert. I work for a large chain coffee company. I have a HUGE passion for coffee, coffee knowledge, and the people involved in coffee (picking to drinking). I was the co-host of the now-defunct Coffee Convo podcast. I will be starting up my new cast soon, just take a little time to get everything in line. I am looking forward to all the fun stuff that is going to be going on. ...just my 2 beans
  11. It is with a tinge of sadness that I spotted on Twitter that Coffee Convo has closed down. The growing Coffee Community based in the US has replaced it's Ning Network with a grim holding page announcing the news. The RSS feeds from the site and to the podcasts are still open, so download and listen whilst you can. The UK's own coffee podcast and video blogs are starting to kick into gear and I am sure that Coffee Convo readers and community members would be more than welcome here.
  12. I thought it might be a good idea to start a post and give people the chance to provide their Twitter handle. I'd like to think that it would be a good reference. And maybe a bit of fun also. Will start a group called Coffee Forum people can subscribe to and add everyone who provides their details. Think of it as a kind of Coffee Forum on the go. Don't know if a post on this already exists - apologies if it does, I did try to look but couldn't find anything. Hope I am not contravening any rules! So, here goes: I'm @hombre_mediocre :coffee:

  15. Rogers Estate Coffees is launching a Twitter contest that gives UK coffee enthusiasts the chance to win free flavoured coffee. The competition starts tomorrow when the first coffee-related question will be published on the Rogers Coffees Twitter page. ‘Tweet for a Treat’ aims to further promote flavoured coffee in the UK and establish Rogers Estate Coffees as one of the leading coffee roasters in the UK market. How to enter To enter the competition, simply sign up to Twitter and follow us at http://twitter.com/RogersCoffees. A question will be posted between 9am and 1pm every day for 28 days. Each question will begin with the letters ‘TT’ (’Tweet for a Treat’). All you have to do is tweet your answer @RogersCoffees before 9am (UK time) the following day. The first five people to answer the question correctly will win a special Café Flavors Pack; each pack contains four sachets of different flavoured coffee, and 25 runners up will receive one random sachet. Should you need some help with any of the questions; most of the answers can be found here on the website. The five winners and 25 runners up will be notified via a direct message on Twitter, giving details on how to claim their free coffee. The winners will also be announced in regular tweets. Café Flavors Café Flavors is a flavoured coffee brand developed by the Rogers Family Company. The Café Flavors range is made up of four delicious flavours: Belgian Chocolate, Chocolate Raspberry, Irish Cream and Wild Hazelnut. To produce the different flavoured coffees, Rogers Estate Coffees source the highest quality shade grown Arabica beans, roast them to perfection, and then add natural flavour oils while the beans are still hot. More about Rogers Estate Coffees The ‘Tweet for a Treat’ competition is a follow up to the successful coffee giveaway in March when 1000s of coffee sachets were given away every day to celebrate the company’s successful UK launch of the online coffee shop. Rogers Estate Coffees is the UK subsidiary of Rogers Family Coffee Co., one of the largest coffee roasters in the States. With a UK operation, the coffee is now roasted here and packaged within minutes, an efficient process that guarantees absolute freshness and quality. The company prides itself on its Community Aid projects and the premium quality of its coffees. Their green coffee beans come from small coffee estates and farms as well as from their own farms in Panama. Visit the online shop to browse our Café Flavors range.
  16. Is anyone going to the Foodies Festival at hampton Court Palace this weekend? I was lucky to win a pair of tickets courtesy of TeaPigs (by following them on Twitter and answering a question) If you are going to be there on Saturday do you fancy meeting up?
  17. Good afternoon everyone. I came across this site from a link posted by commongrind on twitter. Not really drunk any decent coffee in the past, I mainly end up drinking Kenco or Nescafe, so I stand before you to be enlightened to ways of enjoying a decent cup of coffee.

  21. Hello, everyone. So pleased to have discovered the forum, and learned a great deal from posts. I've jumped through most of the hoops and am due to open a small cafe/gallery (22-24 covers) in a rural/seaside location towards the end of this year. At first I will be serving cafetiere coffee, and grinding the beans on the premises. I have the Kitchenaid Artisan grinder in mind for its very good spec. and attractive appearance for the counter top, and also bcs it should tie with a commercial machine once I'm on a sure footing. Rancilio Rocky also excellent, I believe. I've also lined up potential coffee suppliers - I'll need both bean and ready ground, I think. Before I press the go buttons, I'd very much appreciate your input on both grinder issue and very best bean to offer. (I'm also serving looseleaf teas, milkshakes and hot chocolate.) If I can help, or share info with, anyone else setting up, I'd be delighted. Many thanks.
  22. Fellow coffee lover here, obsessed about the expensive rare ones. Delicious Esmeralda Special is my current fave! Nice to meet you all. Lisa
  23. Happy Birthday Chris Hope you're enjoying your beers'n'brews in Bruges this week. You can wish Chris a Happy Birthday via his Twitter @chrisweaver
  24. The UK has a great coffee podcast - Common Grind and the US has half a dozen or so (ok they do have more than 250 million people within their borders), but the newest podcast that I am aware of has a degree of interaction that deserves a round of applause. Recording live (podcast 45), with a visual on Ustream and live text chat, the CoffeeConvo pairing of Ant and Wo managed to keep up with the occasional input from myself and Chris tonight. Using Twitter as our launchpad I received a message from @wonet about the Ustream recording about to take place, @getnoticed jumped in and tweeted @chrisweaver to join as well, retweeting snippets to other coffee fanatics around the UK. Chris joined after a few minutes and it was game on. The show is a mix of news and random finds relating to coffee from around the net, with its own community CoffeeConvo is set to grow. Welcome CoffeeConvo to Coffee Forums UK. Thanks for the plug on the show and in the show notes. Hopefully we will be able to get some of the members on your show at some point too.
