  1. Not sure how good this is, but just something I've noticed today: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Synesso-Cyncra-Coffee-machine-2-group-model-/191878879476 Bid carefully, although I do have to say it looks legit. EDIT: From further investigation (by others) this appears to be a scam, DO NOT BID, read the rest of the thread for info. T.
  2. Hi guys I'm considering starting a coffee shop, in fact, sooner than expected I have found my venue, so I need to start getting things underway. I'm on a budget, aren't we all, but I'm very much of the mindset that I'd rather have second hand high end equipment, than cheap brand new stuff - in terms of coffee machines anyway. Grinders will most likely be new. I want two three group machines, and at least two grinders. I had my eye on some second hand La Marzocco Strada's but I just don't think its sensible spending such a big chunk of my limited budget on machines. So I am now consid
  3. I had heard bits and pieces about this place opening over the last few months but when I walked past the premises at the start of this month I spotted an EK43 sat on the counter and knew I'd have to pay a visit. It opened last week and I made the journey back to Belfast to visit at the weekend and to catch up with family of course. The set up looked promising, anfim grinder, synesso espresso machine, uber boilder and of course the EK43. They have coffee from hasbean and workshop at present but I think this will change from time to time. They had 3 different coffees on the menu and the choice w
  4. Well, after sticking my interactive CV online, and sending out a couple of emails. I know have what seems to be rather hopeful news. I have a meeting at Fernandez and Welles in Soho at 3pm on Monday regarding a supervisor position. So please, I need all the luck I can get!
  5. I was sat in Kaffeine on Wednesday enjoying a coffee or two from their new Synesso 3 group that had been fitted the night before, and from my vantage point I whipped out my doodle pad and sketched the machine. Armed with only a free pen and small (10.5cmx10.5cm) pad this isn't up to my usual standard, but then again I hadn't done anything like this for a while (since I got my iPhone in August 2009 ) and didn't set out to create this type of image. My challenge is to other cafe goers to give line drawing a go, capture a scene, scan and post it here or in the gallery. Let your cr
  6. I've been trawling YouTube lately looking for a few how to (and how not to) videos for use in an upcoming project. Have you videoed yourself extracting a great shot, or your entire routine? I'd be interested in hosting videos here if you'd be happy to share them. Do you have any links to 'must see videos on YouTube' that you'd like to share?
  7. Hello, I have been following coffee forums for most of this year but this is my first introduction. Planning Kaffeine has been taking up loads of my time, as well as finishing at my old job at Lord's Cricket ground at the end of July 3 weeks before we opened. Now my life is totally immersed in coffee and I am loving it. I am originally from Melbourne, have worked in Hospitality for over 20 years and just love providing great food, service and products to people. Kaffeine is my first place with my business partner who is from New Zealand and we look forward to providing our patch of l
  8. Today I embarked on a coffee crawl around London with my wife as well as Chris Weaver and Ash Porter, to try a number of new establishments and show them what London has to offer. Our itinerary was; Milk Bar (Bateman Street) Fernandez & Wells (Beak Street) Kaffeine (Great Titchfield Street) Lantana (Charlotte Place) Beas of Bloomsbury (Theobald Street) First up was Milk Bar, a regular haunt and a chance to grab brunch (their scrambled eggs and bacon was divine). The home made baked beans looked appetising too... Milk Bar uses Squaremile coffee, ground with a Mazzer
