  1. I've been playing with my grind size to dial in an espresso today and my grinder is stepped. It's the 2006 Compak K6. I found on one setting it took around 55 seconds for a 1:2 ratio an then on the 1 step coarser setting I got 26 seconds for the same ratio. I liked the taste but I wondered what others have done when they come across this situation? Could I change dose to account for the steps difference? If not I think I will use my little porlex to dial in the grind closer if the taste doesn't suit.
  2. For sale my ROK grinder, used twice and just put aside. Between backing it and it's receipt I bought the EK so I've not really used it and am unlikely to start. I have the original box it came in. £10 discount for collection from Bramley, Hampshire. *price drop to £90 delivered, I'll leave on here for another week or two and then try t'eBay*
  3. People may be interested to see the results of my latest mini project. Grind is adjusted by using an allen key. The whole thing was put together from items found in my scrap box and only took a few hours to make once I worked out what to do. The origins of the worm drive cog are lost in the mists of time, but it fits the 80 step adjustment ring just fine. I think it may have come from one of the three lathes that I have owned, or possibly a gearbox. The long headed allen bolt is from a brake caliper. It all seems to be working well.
  4. Got one of these on loan at the moment .... Firstly its once again due to the generosity of forum members. Callum came up one late Wednesday night last week from Sheffield ( after a days work no less ) and dropped this off, fixed a new steam arm to the V and we stayed and made coffee and chatted . Not had an espresso grinder for a little bit as my EK43 is out on loan , so this is very welcome ... Callum and Foundry top guys ..... Back to the grinder 83 mm flat burrs . Compak by name , compact by nature , Its not huge ( for a coffee shop grinder ) . With the small hopper it looks sm

Bought new in December 2008. 2. Gruppo Izzo (MyWay) Alex Duetto MK II Descaled every quarter. Grouphead cleaned once a month. I have made about three coffees (cappuccinos) on average every day. 6. Hi, I've just refurbished my last Gaggia MDF grinder (2001). It is white in colour and has some storage related scratches, and some light stains, what I couldn't get rid of, internally it was immaculate even when I opened it up. It comes with the rubber seal stepless mod, for £110 posted (via UPS) to UK mainland.. I'm quite confident I was the first one to open it up, and surprisingly I decided not to replace the burrs as they are as sharp as the brand new set I had at hand, the internal cleanliness also backing up my thoughts, it had very-very little use in its previous life.
