  1. Hi, I've been getting 'under the hood' of my Duetto II this weekend. Originally to solve the slow steam boiler fill up, but I've been having a look around I can see some build up ( I think calcium?) on the bottom of the steam boiler where the heating elements enter. So I was wondering if anyone had seen this or knows about it? Should I be concerned? Is it a sign of the seal failing maybe? I've also got to sort out the insulation on the boiler as a lot of it has solidified and is crumbling away. I read @DavecUK blog about this using the snow skirt tree (http://coffeetime.wikidot.com/insula
  2. Hi, I've got the Alex Duetto II and was having the problem with the steam boiler filling slowly and at points not filling at all before just turning off and not working. After looking on here, I saw @Bob_McBob had posted a solution to this (thanks to him for sharing ). So I had a go at a go at doing what he said and low and behold there was the metal gauze that was compacted in there fairly tightly! I couldn't see any obvious signs of debris, but you can check it out for yourself in the photo. Now, I didn't know how to do the backflush part the he talked about, so I just removed it (as you ca
  3. Hi all, I'm considering buying a Alex Duetto II... The main features I'm after being: Dual boiler. Rotar pump. PID. Dual pressure gauges. Pre-infusion. Large (ish) water tank. I've done a load of comparison research against the La Spaz S1 and the Expobar Leva. I'm pretty happy that I've got the right machine in sight, but I've read a bunch of stuff online about issues people have had moving from something like the Silvia (1 hole in steam wand) which I have at present, to the AD II (4 holes in steam wand). Does anyone have any experience of this switch and
  4. Bought this new Baby Twin in December and I guess it has been used about twenty times satisfactorily. This morning it made the morning lattes and was left switched on ready for the lunch cappuchino. My wife told me it was making a funny noise, when I got there all lights were off. The machine was hot and when I opened the steam valve it blew the nozzle off and was obviously under high pressure. It is now dead as a dodo. There is half a tank of water in it. I suspect it has overheated, maybe ther is a reset switch somewhere but I am left wondering what has happened. Can anyone advise please?
