  1. I’ve had an R58 for a couple of months and have to admit I’ve not been blown away by it so far. The espresso quality is excellent, but the steam quality has been quite disappointing. So, to give the steam a bit of a boost I increased the temp with the PID by 1 degree which has helped a little in maintaining pressure long enough to get some decent micro foam. However, as soon as I plug the PID into the R58 and change the temp on the service boiler, it shuts off the brew boiler pump completely! As in when you lift the handle to brew, nothing happens. The pump does not engage so nothing happens. The only way to get the pump working again is to switch the machine off and on again. This however, resets the temp back to the original factory setting and doesnÂ’t retain or remember the change in settings. i suspect I know the answer to my question already but, just in case I’m doing something wrong or am missing something, has anyone else experienced this problem? And if so, is there a simple fix without having to return the whole thing back to the retailer?
  2. I have made a good deal of progress when steaming milk but I suspect I am not quite there yet so, lets consider the variables. What would you say is your perfect angle of wand in milk when you start steaming? What would you say is your perfect position between the center of the jug and the side? Where do you place the tip? think of a clock face here is it maybe 3 o'clock or offset more? Finally, do you ever use less than full power when steaming? I guess I am posing these questions at everybody but particularly at those of you who achieve such good results in Freepour Friday Just for some perspective on this, my step up in results has come since I started "hands free" steaming and thereby making it more of a science than an art. This is an attempt to modify the method a small amount to get the final polish on what I get for results
  3. I've had my Silvia v4/5 for a couple of days now and have had a couple of great espressos but Im having a bit of trouble getting milk texturing right. I seem to either get a too much foam that settles just on the top or I make a really milky coffee with little to no foam. I currently keep my pitcher in the freezer and always fill it with cold milk up to the halfway point. Has anyone got any tips on using the Silvia to create microfoam? I didn't expect it to be able to steam as fast as it does Any pointers would really help
  4. hi i was just posting in case anyone ever ends up in the situation i have been in. i got a second hand La Spaz and completely love it - revolutionised my espresso making (upgrade from a Rancilio Silvia). The only issue was that the steam was too powerful. I am using a small Mota jug and normally only make enough milk for my wife and me. The La Spaz is so powerful it was very hard to control the milk and make decent micro foam. To cut a long story short, i tried many things but then took a gamble and bought the 'famous' 0.09 mm 4 x hole steam wand tip from Chris Coffee in USA. i needed to ring them to arrange postage to the UK and they charged me $10 plus $15 for the tip. I must admit it arrived Saturday and is AMAZING… it really does make a massive difference and, even though i am not very experienced or skilled, i can now make very good micro foam and milk. It was definitely worth it. Hope this help someone at some stage Cheers
  5. Anyone have any idea where I could get my hands on (or better still have a spare!) an adapter to fit a La Marzocco steam tip to a Nuova Simonelli Musica, would need to be a male to male adapter like this one: http://clean-machine.com.au/Adaptor-for-Tip-to-suit-NS.html Can't find one anywhere, only a website in Denmark which doesn't ship to the UK...
