Have to say though that Sages 58mm single is a complete and utter abortion. I don't think it's fully tamping with 10g in as the shoulder isn't deep enough - 11g seems to make the puck stick to the shower screen due to too much coffee. So I'm not surprises some one thought it held 12g. My 9.9g expanded enough to show the hole in the shower screen fixing screw but a crap puck because it needed a bit more pressure. Maybe 10.5g +/- 1 attogram will work out. The razor tool very nearly reaches the bottom of the shoulder. It clearly needs to have a much shallower over all depth to allow the shoulder to be deeper. Shape - well IMS reckon they developed something rather similar to make it easier to get the puck out - also I assume make it easier to stick it to the shower screen. John -
Ok im new to the Espresso making after recently buying a second hand grinder and Ascaso Arc Fun machine. I then bought lots of other accessories including a 57mm tamper from happy donkey website. Its heavy polished metal base and wooden handle. However when i use my single basket and tamp to 30lb, using my tamp click mat, the tamper ends up pressing against the corners where the slope of the basket begins. So i have ended up using the plastic effort tamper as it flexes and does a better job of tamping. SO can i buy an alternative single basket that wont give me this problem? I always have doubles but my girlfriend has a single. Also how are baskets measured as i bought a 59mm blank basket from hasbean and it does not fit.
