  1. Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade form my Krups GVX2 and after quite a bit of reading I'm concluding that if the ideal home grinder exists, it's not available until next summer. That said, I want to get something sorted sooner, and at the moment I'm leaning towards finding a secondhand Super Jolly, which would fit on my one bit of kitchen counter with unrestricted headroom. What I'm less sure about is how friendly they are to single shots, although I'd have a go at either improving the doser or replacing it with a funnel per some of the posts on here if that's the main change that is neede
  2. Hi. I have seen a used Cherub for sale for £575.00. Is this a good price? It has the Fracino half century badge (1963-2013), so one assumes it is 4 years old max. Just to explain, I have a Gaggia Classic, and was wanting to upgrade to a Heat Exchange machine, mainly to get consistency when steaming milk. Thanks, Ray
  3. So the Oracle experience didn't last long/go well as it seems it was faulty, so for a few reasons I have chosen to take a refund and begin searching for a manual machine. I have backed the Niche Zero so my plan is to research and source a good second hand machine to pair with that when it is released. I have plenty of time but want to make sure I do my research and don't buy the wrong thing. So far I've only looked at Rocket machines (online not in person) and really like the R58. A dual boiler would be my preference and they are within budget for a well looked after second hand one.
  4. Hi, there is a seller near me that is selling both a SJ & Major that are 5 years old and asking £260 & £275 respectively. The Major has had new burrs fitted but doesn't feature a drip tray and the SJ burrs are about a year old. Both say they've been used at home for the last year and both have a few cosmetic marks that don't concern me, it seems reasonably easy enough to have the casing repainted if I wanted to. Height in my kitchen wont be a problem, I have a spot for either Do either of these seem like a good buy? I'm struggling to understand the second hand pricing on
  5. Have been eyeing up a gaggia classic from 2005 I know the older models (pre-2015) are considered better than the new version but should I have any concerns about buying a machine which is getting on for 15 years old? thanks
  6. Hi all, I'm looking at getting a new grinder for V60 and aeropress. I've got my eye on the Wilfa grinder, but had a quick look on ebay and see there are quite a number of second commercial grade grinders (they seem to be primarily espresso). Would I be better off with the former or splurging on the latter? One of the motivations for going with the second hand commercial grinder is the longevity of the machine. Budget-wise I'm looking at £100-200 Cheers
  7. Hi, does any one know of any good website to sell second hand equiptment on?
  8. So I'm going to buy a Fracino Little Gem, used (working) but 1 year of no use. What should I test and inspect? Water running through group head? Steam wand provides powerful dry steam? Aesthetic damage, and functions as expected? Any way to tell if the machine is past it's best, not worth it? Expecting I need to descale but any other maintenance likely needed? Thanks for your help! PS After purchase what gear is essential/ great to have? 30ml shot Glasses Milk jug knock box cleaning cloth Visiting in a week, look forward to your help!
  9. Hi im considering buying a second hand gaggia 150. Does anyone know what I should be paying for one? many thanks
  10. Hi anyone know anything about fiorenzato f5 ? looking for first electric grinder s/h. mostly for my gaggia - a couple of double shots a day and occasional -maybe weekly French press Thanks alan
  11. Hey guys, I want to find about 10- 40 second hand espresso machines. They should be fully automatic machine such as Schaerer Coffee Art Plus . Price under $1900 each one include shipping cost to Vietnam and they should work good enough to service for buffet morning at Hotels. Do you have any recommend ? Let contact my email: [email protected]
  12. Hi All, looking to get my first grinder and machine, fairly modest budget but hopefully enough to get something I won't want to replace in 6 months. I have an aeropress, cafetiere and my flatmate has a cheap delonghi espresso machine, so my plan is to buy a grinder then use what I have and save for an espresso machine of my own. For a grinder I'm hoping to spend not much over £100 but could stretch if a really good ebay deal came around. My options seem to be (mostly second hand): Iberital MC2 Rancilio Rocky Gaggia MDF with the Rocky being a bit more premium than the other
  13. Hi, After a good friend came round and tried my espresso, I have him converted and he now wants a setup like mine. As my Gaggia Classic is a few years old I have no idea where to go but he wants a new one for the lowest price. Cheapest I've seen is £300 but his budget is £200-£250 and he doesn't want to go second hand with such an outlay. (He already managed to get an MC2 for £100 so grinder isn't needed). Any recommendations from you guys? I may be able to persuade him to go second hand at a push but he wants a warranty when spending this amount so maybe recommend a supp
  14. Hi, I'm looking at getting into espresso for the first time, upgrading from using a moka pot and whisk for milk. My budget is flexible up to about £700 (could go a little over) and I was wondering what the advantages of buying new are? I've found the Gaggia Classic Pro for 350 and paired with a Eureka Mignon Specialita this would fill my budget. However, it's tempting to get a second hand Gaggia and perhaps look at cheaper grinders also. I've been searching and pondering for weeks now and could really do with some more knowledgable opinions! Thanks Very Much
  15. Just spotted that Didn't You Do Well in Bristol are selling some gear. Here is what they said on Twitter: "We still have some equipment for sale. Including a nearly new Mythos and equally pristine hario beam heater plus others! Get in touch!"
