  1. Hi there, I am looking for an espresso grinder for my new coffe shop. Our capacity is around 80 double espresso/day. Honestly I don't have a big budget so I am looking for a decent one. I live in Turkey and I dont have wide options. Actually my options are below. If you can help me to choose one I would be glad. 1) Eureka Atom (First hand - Price: 675£) 2) Rocket Fausto (First hand - Price: Price: 810£) 3) Sanremo SR70 (Fiorenzato F64E) (Second hand - 8 months old - Price: 560£) 4) San Marco SM92 (Second hand - 2,5 years old - Price: 450£)
  2. I've just left my full-time job (as founding engineer/machine guru) working for a fairly major London and national coffee and machine supply company to go back to being self employed, which was where I started nearly 20 years ago! For the last 12 years I've been working on espresso machines (you name it, I've probably fixed it!) after helping to set up a now well respected service department. The real base of my skills are in La Marzocco machines, and I've also worked extensively on Spaziale, San Marco and Conti gear, Mazzer grinders, Lever machines (love them!), and Giotto Rockets amongst many others. If you need advice: I'm happy to give it (time allowing!) - I believe that knowledge should be shared, not hoarded. If you need more - a service or repair of your beloved machine for example, or a part that you're having trouble getting - I'll be happy to provide you with a quote. Feel free to get in touch! I'm looking forward to meeting and working with people who actually care about the coffee they're making and drinking, rather than primarily being concerned about the cost equation.....there's nothing worse in my opinion than coffee made to an accountants formulation!
  3. Hi all. Just introduced myself in the Introductions section but didn't want to waffle too much on that thread. This is a plea for assistance....! I've had my La Cimbali Domus Classic for a few years now (and it was fairly old when I bought it for peanuts off Italian eBay). It's actually really good, too good to get rid of, but the drip tray (the only plastic part on what is otherwise a really soild machine) is beginning to perish and is now leaking which is pretty annoying. So I was wondering if anyone has any bright ideas as to where I might find a replacement drip tray! No joy from La Cimbali UK but the really helpful chap at Happy Donkey suggested that I asked you guys, which is clearly the way forward! On another subject, I'm really excited about the imminent arrival of another new toy from eBay! I've bought a used San Marco SM90 for a song and can't wait to start using it (i'll replace the burrs first of course) after having tolerated a Gaggia MM for a couple of years. By the way, sorry if it's bad etiquette for a new member to start 2 threads concurrently - don't really know how these things work... All the best for now Andy
  4. I gave a brief introduction in the new members section, but thought I would expound a bit during the tracking of my first espresso machine restoration. I am a coffee lover, but have never had a small "starter" machine other than my little moka pot. I will visit some local coffee shops wherever I find myself, but normally can't justify paying the price for that luxury more than a few times a month. In the states, most people think coffee begins and ends at a Starbucks counter, but I like the ritual of brewing at home. I generally use a French press for my morning coffee, but I have always loved the act of having an espresso at a cafe, particularly now that I live in Europe. A quick, efficient barista who gives me great coffee but who isn't looking to upsell the latest "It" drink. I want that ability at home. Sure, I could have found a different machine with lots of adjectives: smaller, newer, fancier, or even, beginner friendly. But in the end, I went with a respected brand, a few years old, a bit larger than I expected, that takes a little elbow grease to get working. This post will be where I track my progress. I will try not to post too many or too few pictures, but honestly it will not hurt my feelings if I am the only one who sees this...I just need a place to keep track of my progress. And to answer the question before it is asked, I did get a suitable grinder at the same time. It is in working order, so didn't require the full tear down the Sprint has had, but the plan is to paint the two together, so I will document tear down then. Pictures are as it was advertised and how it arrived on my doorstep.
