Hi, after much research I've just acquired a Gaggia Classic II, Rocky Rancilio grinder and a Pavoni base with knock box. This is my first foray into making proper coffee, I have made about a dozen or so espressos so far, and am still trying to establish the correct grinder setting and tamper action/pressure to get a consistent 2oz 25-30 second brew. Results so far have been encouraging but I'm not there yet. My biggest issue to date is that it seems pretty difficult to knock out the used coffee ground puc despite having a knock bar and box in my base unit, is there a technique to this or is it to do with my grind and tamper parameters? How can I tell what type of filter basket I have? The Gaggia manual suggests I have been supplied with a pod basket and a 1 or 2 oz (depending on how much coffee you put in) basket (the one I am using). There is also a small plastic 'crema enhancing?' nozzle that fits under the basket inside the portafilter and seems easy to loose at some point. Are these baskets pressurised, what's the alternative, what's the difference and does it matter? Many thanks for any helpful feedback. Best regards,.
