  1. Hello! I have an old 90s Gaggia Classic which i've had for a few months. I upgraded the steam want to the rancilio but i'm having problems getting a good milk for a flat white. I previously had a delonghi icona with a rubbish wand but was able to get some pretty good microfoam. What i'm getting is hot liquid milk. It barely gets frothy at all and just starts to get so hot that it essentially boils. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong? Is it a problem with the machine or me?
  2. In need of a rancilio steam wand for my gaggia classic. Thanks
  3. Hi All is this the correct upgrade steam wand for my Gaggia Classic ? http://www.myespresso.co.uk/product.php/419/rancilio-frothing-arm-2008-version-fits-gaggia-classic And a Happy 2012 to all
  4. For sale is my Gaggia Classic which I got just after Christmas, so only around 1 month old! The model number is RI8161/40 which is the last one before the 2015 model which means 3 way solenoid and you can still do the OPV mod etc and it has the aluminium boiler. Its in fantastic condition as you would expect. The only reason I am selling it so soon is that I quickly realised I make lots and lots of milk drinks for my family and that I want to go for a dual boiler machine as a result. I have done the following: The OPV mod - adjusted to 10 Bar static and 9 Bar pressure Upg
  5. As per forum rules, I am starting a new thread to indicate that I am now willing to split the lot listed here http://coffeeforums.co.uk/showthread.php?26727-FOR-SALE-Gaggia-Evolution-Auber-PID-steam-wand-upgrade-%A390 since there was some interest in the PID alone. Since the PID is still embedded in the machine and the thermometer might be a little fiddly to get out, I suggest that anyone interested first agree a price here, I will then get to work with the spanner, and that no money changes hands until I have confirmed the PID is safely removed! I am willing to post the PID (£5
  6. Hi, I have an old and trusted gaggia classic with a rancilio steam wand. Recently it's started to drip more then usual from the steam wand. Has some valve gone? if so, which one? Thanks, Stu
  7. Hello All, I have received a Rancilio steam wand from Happy Donkey. It will not fit. I've removed the Gaggia one and am using the nut and o-ring from it on the new wand but it will not go in the machine far enough to do the nut up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Do I need to modify the Rancilio wand to make it fit? TIA, J
  8. Selling my Gaggia Classic as I have now upgraded. The machine is the version with the bigger solenoid. Works very well and has been regularly cleaned and descaled and I also live in a soft water area. It has the Raincilio steam wand upgrade. The steam wand does drip a little but doesn’t affect its use when it’s up to temperature and creates very good steam pressure. I can create perfect microfoam. This part can be replaced if it bothers you. Comes with all original spares, and a stainless milk jug. Original steam wand and wood handle tamper and tamper mat included. Im looking for £
  9. Morning All I have recently upgraded my Gaggia classic with a rancilio V3 steam wand (brilliant instructions on here – thanks) To say I am disappointed with it is an understatement – it is nowhere near as good as my standard one. There doesn’t seem to be enough power to froth the milk, the milk also sticks to the wand and is a nightmare to clean off. My standard one used to froth the milk into a ball if a wasn’t careful – and it was simple to clean – one wipe with a damp cloth. Have I done something wrong? Has anyone else had similar experiences? Thanks Pete
  10. i went for the Gaggia & Rocky combination in the end and more than happy with it. My barista skills are the weak link at present so I'm in no position to pass judgement on the respective performance of the kit. I will say that coming from a Nespresso machine, via a brief encounter with a beans to cup contraption, I'm enjoying the hands on approach, very satisfying. I dismissed a couple of grinders due to height issues where the kit was to be situated then ended up putting it somewhere else where height is clearly not an issue, doh! I also remember saying that the stem wand wasn'
  11. Hi, just seeing if anyone has a Rancilio steam wand going for a gaggia classic. Thanks,
  12. For sale 1 * Rancilio steam wand bought through the group buy but when it was suggested they would be delayed till end of March I got an extra one from Ebay so no longer need the original one. Please note, I don't yet have the wand so would conclude this once it has been delivered from Charlie in the next week. Price is the group buy price (£15) + P&P. I haven't sent anything for ages but assume it would be £1.50 to £2.50 at most. As I made this offer to Ajh101 in his thread in the gaggia forum, I'll give him first look assuming that's allowed. Duncan
  13. I wonder if anyone can please advise if the Rancilio steam wand fits the Gaggia Baby? I know it fits the Classic, but can't find anywhere if it fits the Baby or not. Thanks Andy

  15. Gaggia Classic in perfect working order, just descaled. I am selling due to a bad dose of upgradeitis as you can see from the pics. Price of £150 plus postage, includes Single and double non pressurised baksets Backflush disc Rancilio Steam wand Also a spare group gasket (if I can find it!) all original accessories and booklets No offers please - note the date of manufacture is 41/2011 so should in theory still be under warranty! (And less than a year old, more like a few months!)
  16. Hi I've recently go my Gaggia Classic and so far I'm very happy with it. (Considering my level of experience (=0), the coffee is surprisingly drinkable already ) I was going to replace the steam wand with a Rancilio one. I got one from Drury, the top (cheaper) version (xr5600) on this page: http://www.shopdrury.com/product.asp?strParents=146&CAT_ID=148&P_ID=675 I'm following these instructions: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=11548518#post11548518 I've got the Gaggia wand off and the fixing nut off the old Gaggia wand (had to bend t
  17. Is anyone aware of a how to replace the Gaggia Classic steam wand with the Rancilio document I have one arriving from happy donkey today and want to get some good advise before I start tinkering Thanks
  18. Here for sale is my trusty Gaggia Baby with Rancilio steam wand. I believe it has the same internals as the Gaggia Classic (and arguably looks better/more modern too), just a different exterior shell. It was purchased new by me from Amazon just over a year ago. It was replaced by Amazon for a new unit in April so is less than a year old. It is in perfect working order and I’ve given it a good scrub as well as a backflush and descale after the last use. It comes with the original portafilter, a double unpressurised basket and the original paranello steam wand if you so desire it. I think I
