  1. Hi, Going on the assumption that extraction times are best around about the 25-30sec mark to allow the best to be extracted from the grinds (I know temp affects this too), should you adjust this time if you preinfuse? It appears to me that to get 30g out from 15g in the times are about 4-5 seconds quicker when preinfusion occurs.
  2. After my ceme failed a few weeks ago I have taken the plunge on the new digital preinfusion module. Installation was actually pretty simple once I got my head around the wiring with help from Reiss. The hardest thing was removing the blanking cap from the pipe. Have to say being able to adjust the preinfusion is massive. I had never played with it with the ceme and didn’t actually expect to have much of an effect on extraction and flavour but it’s a big taste difference. I am currently drinking a bean made for filter that I have never been able to get espresso from before but at 4.0 bar pressure it’s delicous. How are you finding yours @Snakehips ? Also I reckon the pump is quieter and cuts in less than before.
  3. Hi, so ended up getting L1 and was going to plumb like so Anyone ever done it or know if done with good results? I plumbed baby lever with line pi prior to this machine and big improvement. L1 not as bad obviously, but still needs it IMO. Primarily wondering if cold water going straight into HX would mess with TS. Thinking it wouldn't, but never know. I can address with preheater, which I've done before, but would need to buy a few more things, so rather not if I don't have to. Parts on the way, so try regardless, but curious what to expect. Thanks for any feedback.
  4. So I guess something is going out, but I can't figure out what. So, around half the time the preinfusion stage does not start the pump and instead basically only flushes what's in the grouphead. But everything works fine the moment the timer reaches the full pressure. This can be repeated by pushing the manual button also, the moment I stop pushing the button the pump starts and everything is fine. I can hear something when the pump should be running with smaller pressure, but I can't really tell what that sound is (it's very quiet). Could be anything from coil whine. So why isn't the pump functioning correctly with
  5. I know its what is in the cup that counts BUT .... So I can make sure that I only have one variable at a time to work on, do you include your preinfusion time in the shot time? Or is the preinfusion time separate from the total shot time? I have a preinfusion time of 5 seconds and shots have generally been about 28 - 33 seconds. I'm dosing 19g into the standard double basket, 40g out and I tamp lighter than I used to (I would imagine its about 20lbs). I want to use the grind as my only variable, therefore if I can decide on whether preinfusion is included in the 25-30 sec shot time it would be of great help.
  6. If you run the pump for a few seconds and switch off the puck gets explosive decompression when the solenoid releases. what if it didn't? turn on pump and solenoid after 2 seconds turn off pump preinfuse......... after 5 seconds turn on pump pull shot turn off pump and solenoid obviously all timings are just for discussion opinions? easy enough to try of course
  7. Howdy gang, So I have my Izzo Pompei 2 group spring lever dual fueler plumbed into my pump and water tanks and have it running from the mains electricity. The only issue is that when I pull a shot, instead of pre-infusing while I have the lever all of the way down it just starts to spout coffee (usually after a second or two). The lever isn't gliding gracefully back to its starting position (after it's passed horizontal) and has to be held in order to stop the lever whooshing back up. Has anybody any ideas what I can do to try and rectify the situation? Could grinding finer and tamping harder perhaps help? As there'll be more pressure in the grouphead and maybe I could pre-infuse for a few seconds without espresso starting immediately! I'll be putting a few pics up in my setup section laters. Cheers gang, Philip
