  1. I intend to upgrade from a Dualit 75002 so looking at smaller economical on demand flat burr type grinders. Prefer to buy used so I get a better model for less, hopefully up to £150. No hurry, so I can wait for the right one. Looking at Eureka Mignon, Mahlkonig Vario, Anfim KS-T, Quamar Q50E, Macap M2, Fiorenzato M4, Profitek Pro T64, Cunill Tranquillo, Rancilio Rocky, that kind of thing. Any I should prefer, any I should dismiss? Any good offers available?
  2. I have a brand new, boxed and unused (powered up purely to confirm a zero shot count) top of the range Macap MXD Xtreme grinder for sale. These retail at over a grand new, though I wanted to give a forum member the opportunity to buy it at a bargain price rather than simply ebaying it - so I'm willing to let it go for £695 including UK shipping. As I'm obviously not a retailer, although this is new and unused, I can't offer a warranty on it - though the price comfortably allows for that. It's a commercial grinder, and as such will run and run without fault - most probably outliving t
  3. Morning All Decided that I am definitely going the on-demand grinder route and wondered what you all thought about the relative merits/disadvantages of the two listed above. Both similar cost (around the £350 mark). For me - ease of use is going to outweigh the end product. I'm not searching for the ultimate espresso, just something that is nice to drink. Paired with Sage Dual Boiler and replacing a Mazzer Super Jolly. Any advice gratefully received, but please be gentle
  4. Anfim on Demand grinder - http://www.anfim.co.uk/html/why_on_demand_.html Anfim have have been around for quite a while and well known for thier quality of grind. Now the guys at anfim have produced a range of on-demand grinders. I have one of these in the training room and I have to say that I'm very impressed. The quality of the grind is far better than the mazzer creating amazing extraction results. It's fast too, not quite as fast as the official spec for a fine grind (a throw of 16g takes 9secs) but still, compared with setting up a doser-grinder with 2 fresh shots is still fast
  5. I'm looking at some Compak options on ebay. Is it possible and easy to remove the dosers and convert to doserless?
  6. Hi, Up for sale is my Eureka Olympus 75e on demand grinder with short hopper. This is the slower rpm model (900 rpm) which I believe Eureka no longer manufacture, see link below to a review done by DaveC for Bella Barista prior to them stocking it which discusses the benefits of the slower rpm model. This is a great Grinder which has had very little use with approximately 65kg through it. The shot counts are on 1949 on the side used for purge and 3667 on the main shot counter used for an 18g Consitency, distribution is great with little to no clumping. No warranty (exp
  7. Good morning, Thinking that the time has come to move from doser to on demand. Have thought long and hard about modding but not so sure it makes sense for me. I would like to stick to Mazzer SJ as I know them and have 3 sets of new burrs in the cupboard. My question (and it is a daft one) is whilst looking around for best deal some are listed as burrs (as I would expect) and some are listed as blades, is this just a failure to update the headings on the spec sheet or do these also come with blades. Thanks.
  8. Well, I never thought I'd see the day that I contemplated selling my beloved Compak K10 Fresh on-demand 'titan' conical grinder.... but here it is. I bought this awesome grinder from @coffeechap a couple of years ago, and I love it - huge 68mm conical burrs, 19g dose ground in around 3.3s straight into the portafilter, small hopper - clean, quick, looks good (especially with the digital display, which I will miss deeply!) and with the knob / worm screw grind adjustment (some love it, some hate it) I think the entire package is just the best. I've not contemplated selling it, changing it
  9. Got myself a Mazzer Super Jolly, planning the funnel mod and might try out a timer module from ebay to see if I can make that work as a simple solution. First step is the lens hood mod, here is the lid I have made from Birch ply. Note this is a master mini type A is also have and not the mazzer in question - just checking the lid fit... Ill try and post the progress here if anyone is interested. Here is the timer I hope I can make work with a simple button, the relay is built in so should trigger the motor and I think will go down to 0.1 seconds. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/
  10. Got one of these on loan at the moment .... Firstly its once again due to the generosity of forum members. Callum came up one late Wednesday night last week from Sheffield ( after a days work no less ) and dropped this off, fixed a new steam arm to the V and we stayed and made coffee and chatted . Not had an espresso grinder for a little bit as my EK43 is out on loan , so this is very welcome ... Callum and Foundry top guys ..... Back to the grinder 83 mm flat burrs . Compak by name , compact by nature , Its not huge ( for a coffee shop grinder ) . With the small hopper it looks sm

  12. Gotta admire the ingenuity in this https://www.home-barista.com/grinders/espresso-preciso-bluetooth-scale-adapter-for-doserless-grinders-t36671.html
  13. Due to a subtle change in my coffee habit, I am selling my Elektra Nino... This is the very same Nino that has been owned by several Coffee Forum members since new, so it has been looked after. Anyway what has been happening with me is that I find that I am using the Londinium much less than I was and I am now enjoying a SwissGold filter for long black drinks and the L1 for the rarer espresso... In essence, I have given milk the old heave-ho... My family are still using mainly flatties, so the L1 is going nowhere.... ! Which brings us back to the Nino... A brilliant "o
  14. Had a request from @TomBurtonArt to look into designing one of these, so I did! Thought I would post it up for anyone else to register interest, or make suggestions. Bolts on in place of the doser, and is a single printed piece that includes the motor cover. Preferably I would sell just as the printed part, and allow you to source and cut your own pipe to slot inside. At the moment the hole is 27mm dia, but I can tailor that to any size you need. I do however have some gunmetal grey stainless pipe left that I can include for extra, cut to the right shape to form a decent seal against

  17. Finally after weeks of faffing around and simply accepting that I would always have to brush the grinds out of the funnel of my RR45OD grinder I have managed to conquer the static. Grounds now slip through the funnel and right into the portafilter. How did I achieve that? Not exactly sure to be frank. I did a few things yesterday to try and improve the performance of the grinder and after reassembling it just worked. So what did I do? 1. Removed the flap and funnel from grinder 2. Polished the interior of the funnel for about 20 mins with Peak Polish. I had previously tried B
  18. Hey Coffee Forums UK! I've been a huge fan of this forum for a while just as an onlooker. But alas, I need your help. I am to be head barista at a new bakery café opening in Cardiff at the end of next month and my boss has tasked me with sourcing the equipment. We are on a very tight start-up budget but are determined to serve great coffee to our soon-to-be customers. We have luckily sourced an espresso machine with all the trimmings, apart from a grinder. I am looking for an on-demand, relatively quick-dosing grinder (18g in no more than 8 seconds). I've been scouring ebay and

  20. Compak E8. Made Oct 2014, Matt black model, non redspeed, flat 83mm burrs, only done 3,500 shots including purges, I usually get through about 500g beans/week. Small and large hoppers. Very good condition. Bought last June from @jlarkin for £775, I think that Joe bought it from someone else on the forum. More information available on the Belle Barista site. Selling because I now have a Niche and it’s too much of an indulgence to keep both. I live in the Welsh hills near Oswestry, collection or local delivery/meet possible, I can take it to Birmingham New Street stat
  21. Anyone heard/know anything about San Remo grinders? Seen a San Remo SR70 for sale....but can find absolutely nothing about it anywhere. closest bit of information I could find was http://www.casaespresso.co.uk/whats-the-best-commercial-coffee-grinder/ and it refers to it as the 'best commercial grinder'...non biased of course. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/San-Remo-SR70-grind-on-demand-Grinder-/191621495009?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c9d87f8e1 this was the one I seen for sale, anyone any thoughts? Is there better things to spend my money on?
  22. After only a week of using my Mxa, I'm wishing I'd got an 'on demand' to save some of the faffing of single dosing. After looking around I'm still none the wiser at what I should consider. Eureka Mignon, Compak K3, or something else entirely. If you had a budget of around ~£300, a Gaggia Classic, drinking 2-4 espresso per day, and not wanting to keep upgrading yoy, what would you be considering?
  23. Before i commit to a purchase, i just wanted to see what might be available on here. I'm after an On demand, that will give me a double shot in under 6 seconds (ish) And cost less than £400 I've been offered a used Fiorenzato f83e, which looks ideal, and i can get a new (albeit not as glamorous) Fracino Luxomatic for similar money. Cash waiting, what have you got?
  24. Man this coffee scene is a joke... I'm on my 4th machine, 3rd grinder so far this year!! Loving it. So I currently use a polished Major, which I love. I think it looks awesome, and obviously it performs well. But I single dose, once maybe twice a day. So an on demand grinder I guess would be better for my needs, but my pockets are not as deep as I wished they were, so my choice would be limited. Now the other day I picked up a new (to me) coffee machine, La Spaziale S1, and with it came an Astro 12 OD grinder. Both have had minimal use but are around 4 years old. I will ob
  25. Looks like an Astro 12 on demand on Gumtree in Somerset. £100!!! 75mm burrs if I'm not mistaken? Could be a bargain for someone close by maybe... http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/coffee-grinder/1078712941
