  1. I'm thinking of starting something at work as the queue of people asking me to make them one of my 'special' aeropress coffees is getting too long. Some really cheap machine (not necessarily espresso) and a cheap grinder - might even use my mignon when niche arrives. Something that will enable good extraction, repeatedly and cope well with perhaps 10 drinks per day - 5 consecutive in the morning, 5 in the afternoon. We're all drinking mugs of coffee at the moment so I can't see a demand for espresso or milk based drinks. Something easy to use. Was thinking perhaps 2nd hand
  2. We have a good coffee setup in our office with several good Expobar machines and good grinders. The beans however are pretty terrible, in the opinion of myself and several other coffee snobs in the office. Office management are happy for us to investigate new supplier options, however I know that they are working to a budget and currently their bean supplier is just the cheapest they can find, so I expect they might baulk at the price of some of the speciality roasters. We don't need any machine leasing, we get through about 160kg of beans a mouth. Can anyone recommend a reasona
  3. Hello, I need to buy a coffee machine for a (very) small office. It is important that it can serve cappuccinos. What matter is: reliability, easy of operation, quick (i.e. not requiring an employee to waste much time). Thus, an espresso machine + grinder is not an option. I have read through dozens of topics on this forum, but none of them has really addressed my questions. What options do I have and what are their pros and cons? The following are my thoughts. Do you agree? (1) All-in automated bean-to-cup machine The easiest solution, but also the most expensive and most faul
  4. We're in the process of moving to new offices and I've been tasked with sourcing a new coffee machine. Apart from me, no-one in the office is into quality coffee, I tend to use a CCD or AP. The old one was a Nespresso pod that can steam milk. There's approx 25 people in the office and not everyone drinks coffee but those that do drink it in a variety of different ways black, cappuccino and some folk who'll just end up tipping milk into it. I had thought of a Brazen Plus which would tick my box, but it's not going to go down well with the milk drinking folk. The other brief
  5. Got a question for some experts here... Can you only get a plumb in version of the Office Leva /Brewtus? without the tank and filter etc? Are conversion kits to either available or is it simply a matter of flicking a switch somewhere (I've read something like this..) Cheers!
  6. Hi, I'm looking at a Office Leva currently on Ebay - Its described as defective but I'm reasonably handy and like a challenge. Is there anyone located in the Midlands or along the M6 as far as Preston that has experience with repairing these beasts as I might need a grown-up to help me if I get in trouble. My feeling is that the machine should be relatively simple and chasing down what looks like a power fault might be an interesting experience. Especially as it's only £100! TIA Tim.
  7. Need to get a pouring kettle and set of scales that would work with a v60 for work in an attempt to cut the costs of buying coffees when here. Quite keen to see if there any kettles and scales which are cheaper than the hario versions but are as good at getting the job done to a reasonable standard. Seen some goosenecks for examply on eBay which are around £15 but wasn't too sure about scales that could be used for measuring dose as well as placing a mug and brewing device on whilst brewing.
  8. Hi Guys, I did post before but I can no longer find the post... I have been tasked with finding a coffee machine for an office of 25 people, not all of the staff drink coffee so I expect the machine will only service 10-15 people. I have a budget of around £500 but I can go higher, the only machine I have found so far that makes an "americano" is a BERG on amazon. I have been looking around but my main problem is the types of coffee the machines make, whilst its nice that they all make espressos and cappuccinos we also need a machine that just makes a simple mug of coffee t
  9. Having finally given into the temptation to upgrade to a Rocket R58 my Expobar Brewtus II is now up for sale. I've owned it since November 2009 and it's served me very well. I can't really justify the difference between this and what I've spent on the Rocket based on the coffee produced - I just fancied one. I would describe it as well used but also well maintained and cared for. There are only a few occasions that it's been used for more than one morning coffee a day as that's enough for me and my wife doesn't like such strong coffee. I live in a soft water area and have only
