  1. Hi.. I have a kitchen aid espresso maker ( dual boilers for coffee and steam) It must be nearly 8 yrs old and has just recently stopped passing water through the main boiler.. Everything else seems to be working. The milk steamer side works perfectly.. Both boilers get hot and it seems to be making all the right noises, but just no water coming through the coffee making side. Does anyone one with any experience of these have any ideas as to what could be wrong or any troubleshooting ideas. ( I have cleaned all easily assesible parts and tried to run descalent through) i also called kitchen aid...their response was that they have no parts available for repairing that particular model until June...but offered me a new replacement for a discount! Also if anyone knows of any engineers that would be able to help In the East Midlands area? Thanks all..... Really missing my espressos..I've resorted the an old trusty Moka pot!!! :coffee:

  3. I have before me a rocket evoluzione with which i have a technical issue. It might be essential to know that the rocket evoluzione has a rotary pump and not a vibration pump. When pulling a shot (with a blind portafilter in) the brew pressure gauge immediately shows the pressure to be 9 bars, but the pressure rapidly climbs all the way up to around 14-15 bars. Obviously by now the safety "over pressure valve" has opened and is letting water out the front of the machine to release all the extra pressure. My initial thought was to adjust the pressure adjustment-nut on the pump and so i did, and whilst i did this, the brew pressure gauge clearly indicated that the pressure was declining, but only from 16 bars or so to around 14-15, before the nut came all the way out from the pump. Therefore i can't adjust the pressure any lower. My second thought was that something, scale or whatever, was disturbing the path from the pump to the group head. So I've disassembled and followed the path, all the way from the pump to inside of the grouphead, but everything was nice and fine, clean and unblocked. I've also checked that the brew pressure gauge readings were indeed true, by measuring the pressure coming out of the grouphead with a portafilter gauge. Are we talking a faulty pump here, or is there something I've missed? The machine is running off the reservoir and it no longer has warranty. Any answers are greatly appreciated!
  4. Hi CoffeeForumers, I have a Dualshit DCM2 that my Dad gave me when it stopped working. It just made a horrendous sound when switched on and primed. In fact it didn't prime at all, trying three times before giving up. Very loud. I believe this to be because there was no water getting to the pump. I thought maybe the pump was on its last legs. So, I stripped it down to get to the pipework. I cleaned out all the pipes with stiff wire and vinegar. Reassembled the device and started it up. Sucess! I now get steam and hot water at good pressure and flow rate from the milk frother wand but when I switch to "coffee cup" mode, it has three goes at priming and then make a low volume, humming pump sound but nothing comes out of the shower head. Like the water is stuck somewhere. Another pipe? An internal blockage in the die-cast metal heating section? I have cleaned the shower head in vinegar but it seems to me that the water isn't quite getting to that final section for some reason. Assuming there's still a blockage somewhere the pipework attaches to in the die-cast metal of the heating section, I will be stripping down and repeating the process. But, before i do that... Can the milk frother be working but the shower head not working for any reason other than pipe blockage? Could it be pump related at all? The pump goes quieter when the water is trying to go the shower head route. I can provide pictures or youtube vid if that would help but maybe someone has some insight just from the description? Strange that I got one process working (the steam wand) but not the main coffee making section. It seems most likely to be another blockage somewhere, I'm just not looking forward to taking all the screws out... again. Thanks for reading, hope you can help!
  5. Since switching to a Niche Zero and Lelit Bianca, I have not had any use for those two. Both were originally purchased new in 2012. Gaggia Classic come with the MrShades PID, and I've done the OPV mod. It comes with single and double baskets, blind filter, a 58mm Motta tamper, and a pressure gauge should you wish to adjust the OPV. Please read the below important information: - both machines are obviously used and do not look as new, check photos to get a precise idea of their current condition - there is not water flow through the main group on the Gaggia Classic. I have had the issue before, which was then caused by scaling. It is likely to be the same issue, but I cannot guarantee 100%, and cannot be bothered to descale it myself -- buy at your own risk. - the MrShades PID is not attached to the main body of the machine. It was for convenience reasons when I was using it. I do not have the double-sided tape that came with the PID kit anymore. - Gaggia Classic has a detachable lead cable with EU plug. You can swap it easily to one with a UK plug, or use an adapter - Eureka Mignon also has a EU plug. It is not detachable so you have to use an EU-UK adapter. £125 for the lot. If purchased separately: £100 for the Mignon, £50 for the Gaggia. Collection in London (preferrably in NW). While there are issues with the Gaggia as described above, I think it's a fairly good value starting kit for anyone with a bit of time and patience. https://imgur.com/a/6f1D0xI
  6. Before I throw this away, if anyone needs any internals from this Nespresso Pixie machine let me know. It was dismantled because it stopped pumping water, so you won't want the pump but everything else is fine. It's going to go to the tip otherwise
  7. Hi all, recently bought a Fracino Classic Group 2 (crica 2006 model), and grinder. Although the grinder seems to operate well, when I grind I simply can't find a setting which isn't extremely coarse (ie finest setting only splits the beans into about 20 parts rather than a nice smooth grind. I believe the grinder is a B or T model, but again circa 2006. Do you think this is because the blades are no longer sharp, or am I doing something wrong? The hopper has an 'F' and 'G' on the base which can be rotated round, which I assume allows for different fineness of grind, but I can't seem to find a setting which provides a nice grind. Any advice welcome! Cheers, Tim
  8. Hi Guys & Gals, Can anyone offer me any advice, I recently purchased the Sage Barista Express and I am able to make very good espresso with it at the right pressure and grind etc however, the steam wand seems to have no pressure. I have read through the entire manual and watched a bunch of videos and cant find many people having this issue. It is not even getting enough pressure to even move the milk let alone spin it. even using it for 3 mins or so the milk comes out barely frothy of the top and only lukewarm. If anyone has had this problem / knows how I can resolve it I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance
  9. Hi guys, I already had one problem with my mkii brewtus, in that brew pressure hasn't been consistent. Haven't had the time or money to replace the pump and OPV. Yesterday, the temperature controller stopped working. Its just not turning on when I turn the machine on. When turned on, the machine’s pump works and it begins to heat, though nothing shows on the little screen. After being on for hours, the brew water is not hot enough to be uncomfortable running over my fingers. Initially I'd presumed the reservoir was empty when the screen was off, until I realised the rest of the machine was working. Anybody have any ideas? I've searched other forums and the brewtus google group but can't find any tips. Just to note this is the earlier model, so its not a PID , its the analogue controller. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
