  1. Hi all, Firstly I was very skeptical about posting this as history lends itself to initial comments along the lines of "use the search function" etc. however this is something I have been doing all day and to e honest its a damn mine field. So I am new, not to coffee, but gooood coffee. I'm a proud owner of a nespresso machine that I have had since 2013 and until recently my head has been firmly in the sand, and seeing what I spent on capsules since early 2016 left me kinda shocked and thinking i must be able to get superior coffee and a much lower long term cost. So its time to up my game. I do have some requirements, but much looser than my wife who enjoys the load pod/press button experience she does every morning. The problem becomes the faff, and from what I see this is mainly to do with grinding-tuning, dosing, weighing, tamping, polishing which to be honest on top of the cleaning would see the equipment as well as myself sleeping in the pond after a week (yes with the fishes). so what do i want? and where will this take me? and how long will this new shiny last before i have to spend another xxx amount? Ideally i would prefer not to get something that doesn't let me have control to a degree, but then when i want to be lazy offers me rich dark crema ladden morning hugs. I also want a steam wand for milk magikery. So from my understanding, i need a HX machine with a PID. and also a grinder with associated gadgetry. and all that on a budget which can be flexed to a degree if it pays off in ease of use for the wife. The main issue i see here is the grinder, would that be right? I have seen lots of advice about sage automatic gear like the BE and many seem to be returning them. So with all this in mind, and lets say a budget of 7-800 for a new setup, what would you suggest ? Thanks in advance. Craig
  2. Hi, I'm a Coffee noob by the standard here. I have a Nespresso machine (which my wife loves with some milk in (latte style) & an Aeropress. I have come here looking to better my drink. At the moment i have to buy pre ground coffee (I know) & have used Hasbean. I need some direction on how to get these 'lovely' cups from the Aeropress,as mine seem to fall short (taste wise) Anyway I wont ramble on too much & look forward to learning & getting a better drink (pref wallet friendly LoL) Ian
  3. Good afternoon, I'm quite new to the world of coffee. I'm currently using a mixture between a Nespresso machine and a 'Rok' hand pump espresso maker. I'm starting to get the hang of the Rok after a few months of use, getting what I would consider to be a consistently good espresso with a decent creama. Hope to gain a few tips and tricks off the forum!

Hi all, been lurking a while, though I should post though Lots of great posts on here and lots of great info. Had a Delonghi Nespresso machine for a while, but about 8 months ago, bought a Chemex, Hario Skerton Grinder and some HasBean coffee and haven't looked back. In fact thanks to Philips doing 40% off I bought a Gaggia Classic, and the Nespresso is on eBay (not used it for a while (a year maybe) Now I just need to do more research on the Gaggia/tweaks and get an electric grinder, been eyeing up the Eureka Mignon and maybe a bottomless portafilter? any advice to get the best from the classic are welcome Thanks Marc
  5. Hi all, I've been lurking a bit but I think I now need some help! I've been going for years with a Nespresso machine but have wanting to upgrade for some time. In a weak moment, I splurged on the Sage Duo Temp: http://www.sageappliances.co.uk/duotemp-pro-bes810bss.html?gclid=COfbiM_zrsMCFQXItAodOwkADg and Sage Smart Grinder: http://www.sageappliances.co.uk/the-smart-grinder.html Both are incredibly easy to use and seem to match my needs very well: a couple of espressos every morning and lattes and cappuccinos at the weekend. Quick to heat up and easing dosing and tamping. It's all a lot better than the Nespresso and I'm getting lovely crema and treacly pulls in 25 seconds. But something's missing in the espresso: it's a bit too acid and sour compared to espressos I have elsewhere. I'm missing the sweetness and richness I'm used to. I should say I'm using Rave beans, Signature blend. So my question: is it the grinder? I've been eyeing the Mignon as a possible upgrade, but would welcome any advice. Thanks in advance!
  6. hi there new to the forum, currently have a nespresso machine which i had from when they first come out together with a dualit frother which is good, would like to venture in to the other world of coffee, so was looking possibly in to btc or seperate grinder and machine set up. i have not a clue what to get for example do i just get a gaggia classic and the mc2 which people rave about or an alternative? also i mainly drink cappucino and espresso and was wondering how easy it is to make these manually , not like ppressing the frother button and putting the capsule in!! any advice would help thankyou
