  1. Hi, just want to get an idea of what I should be getting for my machine. Gaggia Classic (original Italian model with 1425w boiler) Rancilio steam wand upgrade Bottomless portafilter 14g and 21g baskets Brass Plate IMS screen Mr Shades PID fitted? Original post when I purchased it. ive owned this about 2 years. never given me any problems.   2. I have a Miss Silvia with the production date 01/00, which I assume is January 2000. I have read somewhere that machines pre May 2000 do not have the M4 thread for a temperature sensor. So is it not possible to PID it? Or do I just need some other temperature sensor, and if so what kind? Thanks!
  3. Hi all, Would be really keen to get your collective thoughts on the shot in the video. Pretty new to this - read a lot but no machine until now, reconditioned a pretty old classic and added MrShades PID and Invensys pump (anticipating the dimmer mod). Stats: Temp: 93.0 Pressure: 9 bar (opv mod, measured with portafilter guage) Coffee: Monmouth espresso, week post roast, ground pretty fine on sage smart grinder pro 18g in 36g out, 30s It tastes good to me, but looks pretty dark - not experienced enough to analyse the pour and know about blonding, over extraction etc s

A while ago (OK, I started this project about 12 months ago) I decided that there were probably folk in the UK who owned Gaggia Classics and wanted to PID them but were probably a bit daunted by the task. Whilst you CAN purchase all of the parts on eBay, and buy cable and connectors and all of the tools required to make everything - I know (from doing it myself) that it all soon adds up and it's not simple. Many people don't really know what to buy, where to source it and don't already have the tools needed to make the wires up etc. - and are therefore swayed towards the only "complete k
