  1. I’m in need of a decent grinder for making some brewed drinks (aeropress and pour over) and these are the three I’ve been looking, well the three in my price range I see crop up the most around the forum. Which would you recomend or is there another you guys think would be better suited for the job?
  2. Apologies if there is a thread for this already, but I couldn't work out the search, kept getting 1000's of results. The doser lens in my mazzer broke, so I am trying to find a replacement. I ordered one but when it arrived, it’s the right size, but the wrong fitment. I have a Mazzer Mini, circa 2002. The new lens I received is a similar height to the one I sourced. The height of the original is 68mm, the new one is only 69mm. The problem is that all the cut out’s are wrong, the lens blocks the screw and dispenser holes. Can anyone advise where I can get one, or maybe a spare part number? Many thanks.
  3. Hi, Thinking of getting a Mazzer Mini timer or maybe a Super Jolly timer at a push. How do the two compare in the real world? Cheers!
  4. After some hunting I managed to pick up a 2015 Mini at £166, great joy it also came with a huge knock drawer that's sitting confidently on Ebay at £26 with a day to go. Net, I've managed to score a late model grinder at maximum £140. It was at work in a small cafe the day before I picked it up so 'restoration' has been limited to a darned good clean and check. Pleased to find genuine Mazzer burrs which are still nice and sharp. The hopper looked to be the 600g one which is far too big for my kitchen so cutting it down seemed to be a good option. Much measuring proved the hopper to be more or less parallel for the first inch and a half. Marking it for the cut involved mounting it very carefully in the lathe and using its own lid to keep gentle pressure Even after some careful centring the amount of run out on the hopper was still too much (about 1mm) to attempt a cut with a tool.... Definitely a dig in and smashed plastic if it tried. Instead I dismissed the idea of a cut with a tool, removed it and set the edge of the tool holder to where I wanted to mark the hopper and then while running the lathe set the holder as close to the hopper as I dared without it touching. This allowed me to use the vertical edge of the tool holder as a rest. Finger pressure on a broken hacksaw blade held against the tool holder allowing 'bounce' as the hopper revolved meant that I could gently scribe the plastic as it rotated. Although the edge of the blade was cutting through the plastic quite well... I decided to err on the side of caution and complete the job by hand... little by little.. A quick clean up of the cut edges and bingo... lid still fits and its a far better size.. sorted!
  5. Is it possible to adapt the SJ burrs on the Mini Manual? I know the Mini E it's possible, but I couldn't find any info for the Manual.
  6. LOOKING FOR A BUDGET GRINDER ? I've had this since Christmas 2014 and stopped using it in July 2015 when I bought a member's Eureka Mignon. Yes, it's a budget grinder HOWEVER we had some excellent coffee from it. Why did I change? The Fracino Piccino and I-2 grinder came together and I had planned to get a Mignon to go with the Piccino. After 6 months and 8 1kg bags of beans I got the grinder I originally wanted. So how good/bad is the Mini? Its great for the money! Miles better than buying ground coffee and not that far behind the Mignon. Setting up the grind took me time until I realised that the adjuster works in large changes. I got through 1kg of beans and it hardly altered. Once dialled in it was superb and I only made minor adjustments using the same beans (RAVE Signature). Its compact and fits in a kitchen without causing offence!! On sale for £150 upwards, how about £75 plus postage (its about 10kg and the unbroken hopper will need careful packing) or collect from Stroud. Ideal starter grinder for those on a real budget.
  7. Hi All, I'm looking to sell my beloved Rosco Mini (purchased 14th Oct 2014). I have owned a large number of hand grinders (Lido 1 & 2, Pharos, HG-One, Hausgrind, Hario, Porlex etc.) Simply, this is the best all round hand grinder I have ever owned. The engineering quality is unmatched in hand grinders (with the possible exception of an HG-One). Grinder was purchased/shipped from Portaspresso Australia for £250 + approx £100 UK import duty Condition is excellent, 1 year old, no dings or knocks (it's been cherished). I simply have too much coffee stuff, so this is surplus to requirements. I'm looking for £170 ono + £10 delivery Regards Andy
  8. https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-kitchen-appliances/la-spaziale-s5-2-group-coffee-machine-and-mini-mazzer-grinder/1150308551 Presuming you could talk him down to £1000 (he says reasonable offers would be considered) and you could shift the grinder on eBay for a decent sum you are potentially looking at about £800 for this La Spaz S5 2 Group. Maybe even less. Seems very reasonable.
  9. hi, looking for my first grinder. only be used for espresso. is ascaso i2 mini any good? plastic (abs) model. there is now an offer for 130Euro for this model and don't know what to do. read somewhere it has a problem with grind retention. is it that bad?
  10. What kind of number of people on the dial of their mazzer mini grinding for espresso? I seem to be half way between 0 and 1. Doesn't seem like there is much adjustment left does that mean my burrs need replacing?
  11. Anyone used both and can tell me if there is enough of a difference to justify double the price? Hario can be had for £16 delivered whereas the Porlex is £33 and a wait from Japan. It will just be for a quick and dirty Aeropress at work, eyeballed measurements and water out of an Urn so nothing special. Am I going to be noticing any difference with the Porlex? Whilst it would be nice to slot my grinder into my Aeropress its pretty far down on my list, price and quality are much higher.
  12. What is a good secondhand price for this grinder? It's a year old and in good condition.
  13. Good afternoon my dear members of this forum, I just wanted to post here and show off my brand new Rocket R58 machine. ) 1st of all I want to say big thank you to Steve from machina-espresso for great communication, knowledge and obviously selling me this beautiful machine. I went to see Steve in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon ,where he showed me around his storage unit and we talked about coffee and coffee business in general. So the machine was ex display model in like new condition, he even replaced drip tray for me, which was very nice of him to do. Gave me a discount on machine and full warranty for it as well. All i can say is thank you, and I will recommend his services to anyone in here who's interested in buying Rocket or any machine from their website. They also planning to roast their own coffee in near future and opening a new shop soon, so if you guys in Edinburgh give them a shot. and I know Steve reads our forum cheers mate. I wanted to post this sooner buy with Purchase of Mazzer Mini last Friday and Rocket on Sunday, it was just too much going on, and I had last exam today as well. I'm trying to get to know this machine because its a big step up from Gaggia Classic. 1st I can't get milk right, its getting hot too fast and i can't get micro foam right and 2nd I'm still trying to get correct grind for it. So plenty of learning for me in the next few months and I hope a lot of good coffee. If you guys have any tips for me I appreciate it.
  14. Hi All, I have just got a Mazzer Mini Timer as a guest bean grinder, just wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions to get the best out of it, and also if there is a good way to make sure its dosing correctly as the timer doesn't really have a bearing on the dosage at all. Thanks Matt
  15. http://www.home-barista.com/espresso-machines/la-marzocco-strada-mini-coming-t36826.html#p417515 Another revolutionary espresso machine awaits you! For the very first time, the unmistakable Strada EP is down sized to a 1-group version to fit any coffee environment. 17. For Sale Izzo Alex Duetto MK II Mazzer Mini E Aluminum I am selling this fantastic combo because I am relocating for work in a country with different power. I’ll be duplicating the set up when I get there because it worked so well. Both machines were provided by Bella Barista in September 2010 and have been well-maintained ever since. They come with original boxes, manuals and other paperwork. The additional hardware for the Duetto for plumbing it in is original and has not been used. Asking £1000 for the Duetto and £300 for the Mazzer, or £1200 for the pair. OBO. Paypal preferred, buyer pays shipping. Thanks, David
  18. Hi Got my Mazzer Mini today and I'm delighted - thank you to Jason. A few photos of the beast below - I'm really amazed at how quiet it is running. Bearing in mind the only previous experience of grinders was a Russell Hobbs we dinky thing that sounded like a strimmer when on. Surprised by the wee counter on the doser flappy thing to count the actuations. Pretty cool. I wonder how you could reset it? Also unsure as to how I go about dialing it in. Where do you start from - all the way down and ease it back? It's a hell of a tight when it arrived, maybe due to the cold, but I had to use 2 rubber gloves as grip and really twist that sucker off. Anyway, it's the start of a looonngg and hopefully happy journey! Thanks to all that assisted and guided me to this rather lovely object, which by the way the Mrs has wholeheartedly accepted in to the house....phew! G
  19. Hi coffee people, I am new here and got some questions. I currently brew espresso using Rocket Premium Plus v3 (the PID one) and Eureka Mignon. I wanted to get a Mazzer when I bought the Rocket, but I had to get a Mignon for money reason. After few month with Rocket and Mignon, now I have extra cash to spend on Mazzer Mini. BUT I am quite happy with Mignon. It's well built, solid, very easy to make adjustment, nice looking and small. But obviously somehow Mazzer looks good. Probably because I see them in almost every corner of street. My question is, is it worth selling the Mignon for about £200 (after owing it for only 3 month), then spend another £400 to get Mazzer Mini E? Will it improve my coffee? Will I be able to taste the difference? Less clump compared to Mignon? (with Mignon, I currently grind the coffee into a little glass and stair it with a chop stick to de-clump the grind, then pour into basket.) I usually get weekly coffee from, Monmouth, Nude Espresso, All Press or Pact Coffee. Thanks in advance.
  20. Hi all. Selling my porlex mini, great condition. Purchased around one year ago, used to grind approx 1-2kg or beans. Burrs in good condition. Collection from stafford area or buyer to organise delivery. £40 or nearest offer. Cheers. JP
  21. Hi Guys, Looking for a new grinder to replace my MC2. Obviously expecting a step up in performance (under £500). I'm an espresso "purest" kinda person, so don't need to adjust for brewed etc. The ones i've been considering are as follows:- 1) Mazzers (SJ, Mini, Major) 2) Vario 3) Compak K3 4) Anfim Best 5) Macap MXK Will be using on my Gaggia Classic for 6 months before an upgrade to double boiler machine. The SJ, K3 and Vario seem to be the most obvious choice, but wondered what anyone else would choose? I've also found a 2 year old Mazzer Major for about £375 (does this sound reasonable?) Any suggestions would be appreciated anyway Cheers Andy p.s. Doser/Doserless is fine
  22. My classic arrived today so I'm looking for a starter grinder, would any of these be suitable? Hario Ceramic Slim Mini Mill Hario Skerton Porlex Mini Porlex
  23. View Advert PRICE DROP Mazzer Mini On Demand Single Dose Coffee Grinder Selling my faithful Mazzer Mini E On Demand Coffee Grinder. Selling on as I have upgraded to an EK43s. I've had this mini paired with a Rocket Giotto the past few years and it's been wonderful. Original model without shot clock. In great condition, given me no issues at all throughout 6 years of use. I travel a lot so has been used sporadically for a couple of shots a day during that time frame in which I was actually home. Purchased from Coffeeforums UK back in 2016, it has only ever been used for home use across its lifetime. Only major things to note: - I have removed the inner mesh between the chute and the funnel (pictured), this enables less retention between doses and is much better for single-dose home use as there's no buildup behind it left between grinds. - It was originally supplied with a crappy plastic plate to catch loose grinds that miss the portafilter. This snapped a couple of years back so just put a small black plate there instead which serves the same function and looks a bit smarter. Happy to supply with this plate if you wanted. Collection from South Manchester, I'm in and out for the next couple of weeks until I go on holiday on the 18th September but am happy to plan a time when suits. I'll make you a coffee on the new setup if you come over! Any questions please give me a shout.
