  2. Here are a few very easy mods that I carried out to my Major which I'm really pleased with, so I thought I'd share.
  3. Man this coffee scene is a joke... I'm on my 4th machine, 3rd grinder so far this year!! Loving it. So I currently use a polished Major, which I love. I think it looks awesome, and obviously it performs well. But I single dose, once maybe twice a day. So an on demand grinder I guess would be better for my needs, but my pockets are not as deep as I wished they were, so my choice would be limited. Now the other day I picked up a new (to me) coffee machine, La Spaziale S1, and with it came an Astro 12 OD grinder. Both have had minimal use but are around 4 years old. I will ob
  4. Hello, For a sale Mazzer Major with 83mm burrs. It is a Drogeria model with modification of Doserless. Renovated 2 years ago. Painted by a professional painter. Replaced blades/burrs with original ones (cost me about 50gbp). Works perfectly and it is in very good condition. The grinder is really made as a tank, and will work forever. It is 230V/240V version with schuko plug (germany, italy, austria, swiss etc). For UK it is just need a 3pin uk adapter. Grinder served me very well, but because I use Compak k10 fresh, Major collecting dust. If you have any additional quest
  5. Hi, there is a seller near me that is selling both a SJ & Major that are 5 years old and asking £260 & £275 respectively. The Major has had new burrs fitted but doesn't feature a drip tray and the SJ burrs are about a year old. Both say they've been used at home for the last year and both have a few cosmetic marks that don't concern me, it seems reasonably easy enough to have the casing repainted if I wanted to. Height in my kitchen wont be a problem, I have a spot for either Do either of these seem like a good buy? I'm struggling to understand the second hand pricing on
  6. Hi All, I just got my first Mazzer a couple of weeks ago (the wife already hates it) and had been using it quite happily until yesterday when I turned it on there was no power to it. I had used it not a moment before and it was fine, then suddenly nothing! I replaced the fuse and it still doesn't want to turn on. Any suggestions on what this might be would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I've bought a Major, but can't find anywhere what I am supposed to catch the ground coffee in. Please could anyone help without being brutal as I am very novice. Thank you.
  8. I wonder if a cover plate from Major will fit in Mazzer Royal ? https://www.theespressoshop.co.uk/en/Mazzer-Major-Motor-Cover-OEM---SMJ0FRA02/m-4036.aspx Thanks
  9. This coffee grinder Astoria/CMA branded was bought by me a couple of years ago in very good conditions and with a low number of twacks, about 3000. For some deep scratches under the portafilter fork it was repainted. Used for 1 year with auberins timer fitted, doser is untouched, no mod done. Original hopper present. Come with original and new (10 kg of coffee) 151A non-titanium burr set. Please ask if you need further info or pics.
  10. Brand New set of Titanium burrs, genuine Mazzer 151B for Mazzer Royal. In original Mazzer packaging. 151B burrs are the exact ones for a Mazzer Royal and can be difficult to source. Not to be confused with 151A burrs which are the same size (83mm dia.) but with gentler teeth, and are designed for the Mazzer Major although they will fit a Royal. 151Bs are specifically for the more powerful, slower revving motor of the Royal and give better performance with a faster grind and minimal temperature rise of the coffee. Titanium burrs last the best part of a lifetime. £69.00 plus postage at cos
  11. Edit: Now that I am in Australia, I don't think I can produce these gauges in numbers that will make them economical for sale. I have a few silver gauges left, and they will cost $45AUD including registered post. Unfortunately most of this cost is the postage, so I am happy for forum members to do a group buy and I can sort out individual cost as required. Many thanks to @bagpuss for letting me use his Royal several days in a row to test out prototypes. These gauges have been tested on both a Major and a Royal, but testing has not been as exhaustive as the SJ version. I am expect
  12. Hello Everybody! I have recently purchased a used MAZZER LUIGI srl 'MAJOR AUT' that had light commercial use. I have got home to test it out with some stale beans I had and it turns on and the blades spin but no coffee comes down into the coffee chamber. I took off the top blade and all the coffee beans are contained in the centre of the burrs, almost like none can escape. Has anyone experienced this before and do you know how to fix this? Thanks!
  13. I've contemplated bidding on this, but I've decided not to. Looks like it could be a bargain *Only 30mins left so get in quick* http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142233103352
  14. Hey, since I will be getting monolith conical very soon and it is a ton of cash getting it to europe I kind of need to sell my two grinders and this one is first up for a sale. It has been bought 2 years ago, its a drogheria with a bag clamp version, i was extremely happy with this grinder, but then upgraditis kicked in pretty hard Its working flawlessly and it is believe it or not its a pretty good SD (single dose) grinder, if you are grinding in a cup (weighting beans in/out) and with one or two open palm bangs you get pretty much all the grinds out. The burrs ha
  15. Hi all. Can anyone tell me if I can use a Super Jolly funnel and electronics on a Major that currently has a dosing chamber?? Do I need anything else or can I just plug the electronics in? Thank you
  16. Thought I'd share my doser mod. Was meant to be a temporary fix until I got something stainless but actually really like it. Picked up a cheap glass funnel off eBay, lopped the end of it and it fitted perfectly with no messing around. Just used the standard screw. apologies for the upside down pic Ferg
  17. my Major is up for sale. £230 (£20 p&p or pay your own courier) Had 35-40kg coffee through it. Burrs like new and fully cleaned Comes with photo lens hopper and teak lid. Also a custom made dial that can be attached to help with fine tuning your grind. This grinder has been well looked after despite the marks to the paint, it will last many years. Produces lovely espresso grind fluffy and no minimal to no clumps Sell due to upgrade to a conical grinder Can deliver within a 50 mile ish area for free or can post. Due to its weight postage is as
  18. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322518555749 Brilliant grinder.
  19. A few might remember a little while ago I happened upon a pair of Mazzers for £80! (yes, that's right - not a typo..) The ad said "Mazeer cofee grinders.expresso italiano. Parts missing. Spares or repairs £80 ono". Decided there and then to drive the 3 hour round trip to pick them up. The chap said the phone hadn't stopped ringing all morning, all asking to post. Plugged them in and tried them. "Large one didn't work, hopper was off" (I just agreed). "Small one worked but top seized". Said I "could maybe swap parts around to make a good one?" sounded good to me.. Put them safely in my car
  20. So, I now have a brand new Mazzer Major Automatic, and I've already started fiddling. Hopper is gone, which meant locking open the microswitch safety device. Now I've just been googling and seen Patrick's tidy Auberins timer mod, and seen that Callum T and Coffeechap appear to be the Sages when it comes to mazz electronics. So impressed was I that I have ordered the timer unit and 3 buttons, but I have some initial questions as thinking about electronics makes my brane hurt. I understand that the Auber instructions are incorrect and that Patrick has posted correct ones in his thread.
  21. I've perused the threads I can find on fitting the Auber but has a consensus developed for the best tools to drill the 3 holes, and to cut out the square section? Also, anybody know if the auber can be mounted on the front? Last silly question from an electronics numpty...which wire should be used to make all the connections?
  22. Don't know much about grinders, from what I can see the major and the royal are similar but the royal has a more powerful motor and slower rpm, does this make it the model to go for out of the two?
  23. Back out the box anyway pairing up with the Nino. Waiting on hopper for the Mazzer in case you wonder where it is.
  24. I bought a second hand Mazzer Major and I am in the middle of cleaning it out. All the doser parts are now clean, except the one in the picture. I am hesitating how to clean this since it has some grease. If I clean this with soap and water and then drop it in Cafiza, would I need to re grease it? Would it be OK to clean it and not add any grease? Any suggestions on how to clean this much appreciated.
