Mahlkonig Peak

If you were ever thinking of snapping one up......... https://marketplace.unitedbaristas.com/en/listings/614769-peak-grinder-mahlkonig
2. Nothing I can add really to what you've probably already read/heard about the EK43S so I'll not ramble on. It's had a mere 6kg of coffee through it. The SSP Silver Knight burrs are amazing and offer more range in the espresso zone than the originals without losing the signature profile of the EK (as best as my basic pallet can taste). 6 Months old and had 6kg through it. Any inspection welcome. Supplied with all the original packaging. £1850 No offers thanks (collection from Sheffield). Images added shortly, but it can be viewed on eBay, where it's also listed, if you want to see them before I get chance.

Mahlkonig EK43

Mahlkonig EK43 Grinder. Coffee burrs. 3fe Dial. Aligned using the pen test. Only used at home. Purchased on 29/12/14. €1400 Shipping from Spain included (UPS) Payment by bank transfer. Transferwise seems to work well and exchange is cheaper for both.
4. I got my hands on a Guatemala and got a bit carried away modifying it. So far I have -cut the body down in size (sits around 10cm shorter now) -stripped down and polished the clear acrylic top section of the body -painted it matt black (of course!) -replaced the burrs with SSP Red Speed coated -added speed control with a VFD To finish it off I plan to add a more detailed dial face and make a hopper with integrated puffer (to clear beans from below auger) and lens hood style bopper. I do not recommend reverting painted clear acrylic to clear acrylic. What a ball ache! It started with a half hearted ‘why would they use clear acrylic for this component?.. Wouldn’t it be cool if..’ Then before I knew it I had invested so much time into it that I had to see it through. The VFD was quite an interesting one. I was aware that probably the biggest weakness of the grinder was the burr speed. Initial research on speed controlling a capacitor start single phase motor wasn’t promising. Then eBay sent me a gift - a VFD with programmable boost start function BNIB. A different start capacitor relay and lots of wiring and programming later, success!! It grinds quite happily at 20Hz, which translates to just below 1200rpm down from just below 3000rpm at 50Hz.

7. I found an old Mahlkonig EM43 poppy seed grinder to buy for 250eur. It looks the same as EK43. I suppose that mechanism is the same as EK43 and that only burrs are different. It's single phase. Same: power 1300W, frequency 50Hz, rotation 1480. Grinder looks a bit worn out, i will have to change burrs, clean it a bit, paint it... Anyone knows if there are other differences except burrs? Anyone knows if i can replace EM43 burrs with EK43 burrs? Do you think it's worth that money?
8. *PRICE DROP* Hi, I'm selling my EK43. Coffee Burrs - 40-50kg of Coffee through max - purchased 2015. Amazing grinder, but taking up space and not getting used as I no longer work in coffee. Looking for £1425, Collection from Walthamstow, North East London (E17). Please Reply for more info! Thanks Tom
9. After reading a huge amount on here I have set my heart on a K30 but my budget will only allow me to buy used. Is there anything I should watch out for? I have read about some horror stories taking them apart if they are poorly aligned... Also what is the difference between ES and VARIO? Thanks in advance guys.
10. Hi all. I have an EK43 for sale. Purchased new in January 2015 direct from Mahlkonig's official UK distributor. Fitted with coffee burrs. White colour with original Matt Perger sticker on side. Used fairly regularly but still in good working order. I have replaced the shear plate recently and am selling with a spare shear plate along with original manual. There are a few scratches to the paint work on the front of the grinder casing cover (caused when originally unscrewing the cover to clean the burrs) - cosmetic only. I've included various pictures below. Excellent for espresso and filter coffee, very robust and versatile grinder for home or professional use. I realise there is another EK currently for sale on the forum so am offering this at what is hopefully a competitive price of £1290 collected. Item is heavy so I would prefer collection only from S80 or otherwise am happy to deliver personally to Sheffield, Nottingham areas. Thanks, Matt
11.

Excellent condition (there is a scratch to the plastic adjustment knob, but nothing that in anyway affects performance. See image). Under 1 year old (MF date November 2015). Has had under 30kg of coffee beans through it total (20kg of that was to season/bed in the burrs. Then under 1kg per month from home use). Burrs are rated for 6,000kg so almost new. Only for sale as I find there's a little more routine required than I'm use to or want to do, but don't get me wrong, when I've managed to do it correctly its excellent, its just too much faff for me so I'm looking to try out a Compak R120 if I can ever find one It has the newest iteration of the coffee burrs in there and the small hopper. Any inspection/test welcome. Local collection only as it weighs a ton and I don't have a suitable container. £1500

12. Hey, I have a Mahlkonig EK43 gathering dust in my house here in North London. I ran a start up cold-brew coffee operation for a hot minute, but have moved onto to other ventures now - so alongside a ridiculous amount of plastic 16oz cups, I have to get rid of it (as depressing as it is, I just don't brew enough at home to justify a £2000 grinder sitting ontop of my fridge any more - my girlfriend looks at it with disdain every time she sees it!!). Anyway, the Machine has had very light use, and has never been used in a high-volume commercial setting (we bulk-ground 2-3kg of coffee at a time. The Burrs (coffee) have maybe had 50kg through them, maximum. Specs EK43 - 1.5 Years Old (full size, not SE) Black Coffee Burrs Minimal Use (40-50kg through, max) Large Hopper It would be collection from Walthamstow (E17) - and I'm looking for £1675 - no offers. I would consider Shipping, but obviously this will come at a price. **All communication must be on this thread only - usual rules apply**
13. I know one sold for not far off this on the forum recently. Ad says unused so seems decent value if so. https://www.gumtree.com/p/coffee-machines/unused-mahlkonig-coffee-grinder-/1183364774 Good luck!
14. 15. If you were to choose a grinder for a very busy coffee shop what would you put your money with? mazzer? mahlkonig? cimbali? any others? cheers J
16. Hello! I'm selling my well loved, Mahlkonig grinder, which has lived in my kitchen for the past 2 years. Time has come for me to sell it as I'm moving house and its probably not going to fit in my kitchen. One lady owner, maintained yearly, small scratch on the back but in great condition and would be a great addition to any business or passionate home barista. Cost me £1650 new, so would be after O.N.O. £900 Get in touch lynseyharley at hotmail dot com or 07825 670680 Thanks for reading, Lynsey
17. Anfim on Demand grinder - http://www.anfim.co.uk/html/why_on_demand_.html Anfim have have been around for quite a while and well known for thier quality of grind. Now the guys at anfim have produced a range of on-demand grinders. I have one of these in the training room and I have to say that I'm very impressed. The quality of the grind is far better than the mazzer creating amazing extraction results. It's fast too, not quite as fast as the official spec for a fine grind (a throw of 16g takes 9secs) but still, compared with setting up a doser-grinder with 2 fresh shots is still fast! The grinding adjustment isn't micrometrical, but the notch's are small enough for it not to be a problem. The styling is much beter in the flesh than in the photographs, it would seem that it's not very photogenic! With an RRP of just £580.00, (nearly £500 cheaper than the flagship Mahlkonig) this really is a grinder to give some serious thought to. Regards Lee

19. I saw this on Gumtree and thought I might recognise the logo. Looks really old but wondered whether it might interest anyone on here. only £25. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/commercial-or-home-use-coffee-grinder-working/1036734743
20. Hey guys just got a mahlkonig guatemala, and wondering if there is something around to state what grind sits best for different brews before i figure it all out. Would like a chart base to start with Thanks
21. Still no varios? This wait is painful.. Preferably stell burrs but i'm not going to complain. Lawrie
22. Wrote a wee review of the grinders we've used so far here, maybe more for shop folk than domestic though: https://allstartedhere.wordpress.com/2018/09/10/grinders/ Any feedback/comments appreciated!
23. I am looking to sell my Gaggia Classic and Mahlkonig Vario as i have upgraded. I have owned them for about 4 years and are both in good working order. The classic I bought from eBay from someone that bought it, used it once and decided it wasn't for them so was basically brand new. I have done the OPV mod and upgraded to the rancilio steam wand. Both the original wand and pressure gauge included. I live in a soft water area so no issues with scale and it has been cleaned and backflushed regularly. As well as the original accessories I will include all extras for it including bottomless portafilter, Blank basket, 2 double baskets, 1 triple basket, motta tamper and tamping mat. The grinder i purchased new from coffee italia and arrived with a 2 pin plug so I changed it for a UK one. It has got 54mm ceramic burrs and comes with a portafilter holder and a grinds bin. I am asking for £200 which I think is a fair price. I am in Cornwall and would prefer collection, I am willing to post but would be at buyers expense and Risk. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
24. Mahlkonig / Baratza Vario Espresso Coffee Grinder Link to coffee hit website for full details; https://coffeehit.co.uk/collections/espresso-home-espresso-grinders/products/baratza-vario Fully working order Set of replacement ceramic burs fully fitted (worth £84) Wear and tear RRP = £429 I am selling my fully working Mahlkonig / Baratza Vario Espresso Coffee Grinder, which I have only replaced as i wanted a grinder which also weighs. The grinder itself is in great condition but please note the following; The plastic portafilter holder is broken (don't put it in the dishwasher) so won't hold a portafilter. To be fair it was never that good at holding a heavy portafilter as its a bit flimsy but it can be bought from coffee hit https://coffeehit.co.uk/collections/baratza-parts-repair-1/products/baratza-portaholder I toyed with the idea of replacing it with the metal holder which looks much better and more substantial https://coffeehit.co.uk/collections/baratza-parts-repair-1/products/baratza-metal-portaholder There is a small crack in the rim of the hopper (its glued and is hidden and works fine) The cut-off switch for hopper played up so its been bypassed Box, booklet and accessories included £220
