  1. AlanW

    MBK Aergrind

I have a brand new, unused, black MBK Aergrind to sell. I ordered this and then shortly after got the Feld2. The Feld2 works better for me because I sometimes use the extra capacity and I don't often travel with it. Price: £70 + £5 for recorded delivery post in the UK
  2. Hi there, I have for sale a Rancilio Silvia v3 espresso machine in great condition. Lightly used (2 x week), regularly backflushed and will be descaled before sale. Only flaw is a slightly loose screw on the back right-hand side, which does not affect the performance of the machine. Recently moved into a new flat + no room for it on the counter! Comes with Rancilio double-spouted portafilter (with double basket), third-party bottomless portafilter with triple basket, backflushing disc, made by knock simple tamper (58mm, slight denting on bottom, in pictures) and mostly full container of Cafiza backflushing solution. Pick-up only from Cardiff. £250
  3. I hate to reach out on a public forum but was wondering if anybody has a contact number for Peter at madebyknock? I'm looking to get in touch as I ordered a hausgrind at the end of June (when the website said they were in stock) and have been charged but the item has never arrived and despite reaching out via the web contact screen and by email I've never heard back. To say I'm p'd off is an understatement.
  4. Hello, I've been a lurker a while and used a lot of the knowledge on here to make the decision to buy a Gaggia Classic, a few weeks ago. I am now looking to get a few different items and one of them is a tamper. I have some Amazon vouchers to use up and I was looking at one of these below. Can anyone advise whether any of them are worth getting, as I don't want to shell out too much at the moment. Thanks. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tamper-Nobile-Plum-58-mm/dp/B004G1N2E0/ref=sr_1_11?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1375791056&sr=1-11&keywords=coffee+tamper+58mm or http://www.amazon.co.uk/RSVP-Coffee-Barista-Espresso-Stainless/dp/B000BUDDRQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1375791655&sr=1-5&keywords=coffee+tamper+58mm or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tamper-Stampa-Classico-58-mm/dp/B003JZT7OS/ref=sr_1_7?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1375791655&sr=1-7&keywords=coffee+tamper+58mm
  5. Looks like the made by knock grinder is coming together.
  6. Have you read the first reviews on the Comandante C40 by users on the American forum home-barista.com ? It's not a happy story from the US, to the point that the US distributor is said to be removing the units from sale for now. The thread is this one and the US reviews start around page 8 with good pics of burr problems. Given this may take the manufacturer some time to resolve, if at all, I'm wondering how much the Lido2 might sell for. I know there are a few people here who have the original Lido and would love to know how much it cost and the import duties/tax you were charged on top. Also, how long was shipping? It may make more sense for me to buy an electric grinder at this point. Thanks for any insights.
  7. Hi, Madebyknock have a good reputation, I know, but my recent experience hasn't been as smooth as I would like. I placed an order on 10th Sept, and got an auto-confirmation immediately from both Madebyknock and PayPal. Since then I've had no other communication. Initially I wanted to changed my order so I've replied to the MBK confirmation message. Some days later I tried the web-form on their website, then last Thursday evening I emailed direct to MBK, all without reply or acknowledgement. Initially I wanted to change the order as I ordered a std tamper, but now I have changed to a VST basket, so need the slightly larger one. Is this the norm - I get the impression I might have been unlucky with this transaction? On the other hand, I bought a Silvia from MyEspresso. They have a quirky looking website which looks some years out of date, and the '// Insert text here //' comment on Silvia on their listing page didn't make me feel good. But in the end I placed my order on a Thursday PM, called Friday AM to check if delivery could be made Saturday which they said they could do. True to their word, the stuff landed Saturday as promised. Only issue was the missing naked portafilter, which after emailing they resolved immediately and I'd received that by Tuesday. I can forgive short-shipping the initial order, mistakes can happen, but I was impressed how quickly and hassle free the problem was fixed. Regarding this transaction, it's a thumbs up from me.
  8. Hi all, long time no see I am moving on some items I am not really using and selling them could help me to fund some other stuff. For sale is a set for making espresso at your home or office or anywhere else with beans and hot water available. This will also enable you to do pressure profiling and won't take much space on your countertop. It is ideal if you don' t need to steam milk and make few espressos a day (such as one in the morning and one in the evening). It is quiet in use (no pump) and you can get from zero to espresso in around 7 minutes. The workflow (with a different grinder) can be observed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fz9QcqYiiY The brew unit Portaspresso HC-P has a pressure gauge and is made from brass, so quite substantial with good thermal properties. I've added some extra silicone bands to the "brew head" to prevent burning your hands, there is also an extra silicone group head gasket. It comes with original tamper, stand, large spouted portafilter (for triple baskets), original single, double and triple baskets, extra naked portafilter and extra IMS precision double basket, also an extra dosing cylinder made by Norvin. I also include extra original group head gaskets. The grinder is madebyknock Feld 47 travel, high quality precision grinder, perfect to go with the brew unit. I've put under 5 kilos of coffee through, so it is in excellent condition and ready to grind for your espresso. I am looking for 500 euro via PayPal for the whole set, postage included. Pics follow:
  9. For sale is my Feldgrind, I'm the first owner and also have the original box. This one comes with black burrs and plastic lid, had less than 10 kg through and comes with extra porlex rubber band for the handle. I'm looking for 100 euro including delivery, preferably PayPal.
  10. Have just ordered an VST basket from Has Bean is the Simple 58.35 tamper from MadeByKnock a good match for the VST and what are they like ?
  11. Hi Guys, Was considering upgrading my standard gaggia double basket to an 18g ridgeless VST. Makes sense to order a matching 58.35mm tamper.. Any thoughts on which one to get? (e.g. Reg Barber, Made By Knock etc.) Also, has anyone directly compared an 18g VST with a 22g? Cheers Andy
  12. Anyone ordered anythnig recently? Ordered a tamper on Thursday and still waiting, despite an email confirming it would be sent on Saturday. Tried contacting but no luck as yet. Just wondered if anyone is in the same position.
