  1. Hello again, So, I received my new Leva DB yesterday evening and seem to be having some issues with getting the Brew Boiler up to temp. The PID has been set at 92, but I cant get the temp past 65. When the machine was turned on for an hour to heat up, the temp displayed on the PID only rose to about 35 and when I ran the pump constantly the temp eventually crept up to 65, but no higher. Tried it again this morning and left it to heat for 45 minutes but the temp displayed on the PID was only 19... Tried resetting the PID a couple of times but this made no difference. Could it be something to do with the Temp Limit Switch on the boilers themselves or a dodgy PID? Any ideas? Cheers
  2. Got a question for some experts here... Can you only get a plumb in version of the Office Leva /Brewtus? without the tank and filter etc? Are conversion kits to either available or is it simply a matter of flicking a switch somewhere (I've read something like this..) Cheers!
  3. Hi, I'm looking at a Office Leva currently on Ebay - Its described as defective but I'm reasonably handy and like a challenge. Is there anyone located in the Midlands or along the M6 as far as Preston that has experience with repairing these beasts as I might need a grown-up to help me if I get in trouble. My feeling is that the machine should be relatively simple and chasing down what looks like a power fault might be an interesting experience. Especially as it's only £100! TIA Tim.
  4. To those of you that haven't seen my previous posts i am the owner of an elektra micro casa a leva which was lightly charred in a fire. after several months of other priorities etc i decided it was time to get back to drinking proper coffee. Im fairly handy and with the help of a few threads around decided that rather than buy a new machine (yes i know I'm frugal! :-) ) i decided i would strip the elektra down to bare bones and see what exactly would have to be replaced in order to put it back into service. Having replaced all the seals, the manometer (slightly melted needle and innards) power cable and wiring she lives again!! over the last month i can honestly say i have possibly had the worst and the best shots i have ever had. Thanks have to go to Callum for selling me his la cimbali magnum. having rambled for a few paragraphs (thanks for sticking with me so far!!) my real question is this I'm starting to get reasonably consistent results however as always i feel there may be room for improvements and i was wondering if anyone has used different baskets than the standard (if any exist in 49mm) or if there are any recommendations on temperature stability as i usually find a couple of shots in the quality deteriorates? if any of you have any ideas or crazy theories I'm more than willing to test
  5. Has anyone bought these for their Leva? http://www.bellabarista.co.uk/hand-turned-birdseye-maple-wood-handle-steam-and-lever-set-6mm-x-6mm.html I did but have a problem. Both the naked pf and standard pf appear to not to want to unscrew or separate the plastic handle from the metal pf cup. I am scared ot putting them into a vice and just forcing them. The new wooden handles just have a simple male screw fitting. Has anyone any thoughts please?
  6. Micro Casa Leva S1C is an espresso machine with lever offered by Elektra for several decades. I am selling my trusted Elektra after owning it for about two years. This beautiful lever machine produces amazing layered espressos and the steam wand is second to none. It has been just serviced by Ferrari espresso, the authorized dealer for Elektra in the UK, who have confirmed that the machine is in fine condition. Comes with portafilter, original box, and certificate. Please note that the grinder in the pictures is not included. I am selling this at a 50% discount (currently cheapest retail price is ~£1,100) so £550 on gumtree. I will entertain serious offers on this forum though as I want it to have a nice home. I have more pictures which I can share if there is interest. PS: I am selling it as I am saving for a DB machine.
  7. I find my PID sits 1 degree below the set temperature probably just under half of the time. Do we know how the Gicar PID actually rounds (i.e. to the nearest degree or does an actual temp of 91.99 still display 91 until it reaches 92)? Also if anyone has discovered any proportional integral and derivative variables that work particularly well (steam boiler on), that they'd like to share I'd be eternally grateful. I currently get about a 1 degree swing at worst, so not bad by any stretch but couldn't hurt to have it even better.
  8. Hi Really considering buying the Brutus IV machine from espresso-machines.nu. I'm concerned over ordering from the Netherlands but have chatted to the guy on whatsapp and they seem OK. The cost from them is £950 delivered instead of £1275 from machina espresso. Has anyone used them before and were they ok? The other option is to buy the office leva from machina espresso for £950 and have a slightly lesser machine but have uk support. Any help appreciated.
  9. Hiya I've owned an Exposer Office Leva HX since xmas and now not sure how I'd survive without it! A problem has appeared the last week. Previously when pulling a shot, pressure always remained at around 9 bar with plenty of run-off coming out of the OPV. Recently brew group pressure has dropped suddenly and now wavers between 5 and 8 bar when pulling a shot and nothing comes out of the OPV. Pulling a shot now takes much longer. I'm guessing it's not a faulty OPV as the pressure would be high at grouphead (as nothing is coming out of the OPV). Is it likely to be a knackered pump? Is there anything I can tweak to increase grouphead pressure? The machine still steams just fine, and the water tank autofills just fine (at least it sounds like it does). What can I do / tweak / test etc to get things running smoothly again? Many thanks for any help! Stef
  10. Hello, if I am going to backflush my Expobar dual leva every couple of days with just water how many times shall i do it? Is 20 seconds twice enough?
  11. So I think I must have some kind of record for upgraditis... This expobar Brewtus has been an absolute beast and I love it. I bought it only a month ago from Lord Fluff but some kind of insanity has taken hold of me and I just bought an Olympia Cremina so unfortunately this beauty needs a new great home. It is a fantastic machine and has only been run on brita/ ash beck water and has been regularly back flushed. It's great if you're looking for a good value double boiler PID machine. I won't go into detail about how good it steams or how rock solid the temp stability is as I'm sure anyone looking here is aware of this already and there are lots of posts on this. This was given the once over by bella barista where Lord fluff bought it just before he sold it and they gave it a full bill of health. It also has an upgraded IMS shower screen. Asking what I paid to Lord Fluff: £800 Only a week after buying this Super Jolly from Lord Fluff I found a deal for a mazzer royal so it was very swiftly superseded! It is an absolute pristine model, not sure what year but maybe @Lord Fluff can shed some light on that. It has none of the usual knocks and chips you get on most ex commercial Mazzers. Lord fluff upgraded the burrs to titanium ones 3 months before he sold it to me he tells me so it goes without saying they are razor sharp for a lifetime. The brand new mini hopper comes with it also (not the lens hood I still need). I'm using the grounds tray for my royal but if anyone's particularly interested in that I could add that for a little extra. Given its an excellent example and titanium burrs I'm asking £250 Lastly up for grabs is the knock drawer (also from Lord Fluff, god he's a good salesman!). It's rock solid and supports the grinder well. Looking for £45 for this. Obviously happy to split the items and willing only to post the knock box because I don't want the others broken in transit. Happy to have people over to give them a whirl (and show off the Cremina!).
