  1. Hi. I currently have a Gaggia Classic and a Eureka Mignon. I am thinking of upgrading my machine and am trying to decide between: Lelit Mara 62, Rocket Appartmento, ECM Classika and Nuovo Simmonelli II. I do two or three espresso a day and once a week or so make a flat white for someone. Any advice over the advantages of any would be great.
  2. Hi I am looking to upgrade my Sage machine that has just died (only 3 years old). The Lelit Mara 62 Delux has been highly recommended on bellabarista, looks a great machine in a small footprint. Anyone else have one and recommend it or an alternative for a similar price? £1000 is my limit. Can anyone recommend a good quality grinder that doesn't cost the earth? The Eureka Mignon has caught my eye for ~£200. Many thanks
  3. so Decided to Take the Plunge and upgrade from my gaggia classic and gaggia Mdf grinder
  4. Picture the scene... Thursday night I read the @DavecUK super comprehensive review on the Lelit Mara 62S and think that would be a great upgrade for my Classic Friday, en route to Cambridge, I stop off at Bella Barista to buy beans, an airscape container and look at shiny things. I drive away without an airscape but I do have beans and a shiny new Mara 62 in the back of my car After spending the weekend in Cambridge I can finally unpack and set up my new favourite thing tonight but I have a few questions if anyone out there can help me... I've never had a brand new machine before - is there anything special I need to do beyond the obvious of filling with water, heating up, flushing through and reading the manual? I've already removed the "caution hot" stickers - thanks @DavecUK. And Marco at BB gave me a big bag of QC fail coffee to season the machine so I can practice shots @DavecUK - in the review you did you mentioned that BB provide a copy of some operating instructions that you did alongside the Lelit manual. I only spotted this when I was reading the thread last night so can call BB unless it's something you can point me in the direction of? I know that BB did a pre delivery inspection and tested it before I took it away but they wouldn't have had sufficient time to take the casing off. Is it safe to assume it's all ok or do I need to do that to check for leaks before I start using it? (I'm hoping the answer is no...) Anything else I need to think about before I start using it? Cheers Tim
  5. Advice please? i shall probably opt for one or other of these in the not too distant future. It will be an upgrade from a 4 month old Rancilio Silvia to which I’ve fitted a (very successful) Auberins PID controlling temperature only. This transformed the basic machine and gave me much more confidence in what, as a beginner, I was doing. However, I wish to move on to what will probably be my final machine. The Mara ticks the boxes of having a small footprint (space is limited, as is my wife’s tolerance of kitchen surface area invasion) and not being overly complicated. I make 2-3 flat whites every morning and have no pretensions to become anything other than competent in churning these out with consistent results. It’s what I and my wife like. I use an Eureka Specialita. So, is it worth the extra for the PID version, having read on a test report that the benefits on a HX machine are marginal? I’m mindful of the extra confidence that this has given me on the Silvia. Also, it would have to be pushed up tight against a back wall, so can this be done, or is the cabling sticking out and preventing this? I look forward to any advice or comments.
