Hi All, This grinder is surplus to demands. It was used in a busy'ish cafe of my mum and dads for about 2.5 years and has been in my house since, solely as a decaf grinder. So this is not my primary grinder and is way to nice to sit being used, currently no more than a few shots a month. I would say its in very good condition, circa 2013-14 grinder. With a few light marks but I would say in better condition than most for use and age. It has had regular services throughout it life as well as a burr change a couple years back. I would however say it needs a new set, however, I am not a burr expert but have striped it down and taken some photos. The only other bits to note that I can comment on is that it has no lower portafilter mount, however, as its been used on demand the portafilter was always just held and never caused an issue. Also, the seal on top of the mount has some wear, but again, easily replaced. I have considered changing the burrs, and have a contact at BB who can get these if needed, but in all fairness someone else may prefer to do this if they purchase as they can then stick a better redspeed burrset in if they wish. Total shot count is at just over 100k, but as I said, it was well used, but also well loved and looked after. It is a great grinder and a beast to use. Anyway, back to the point, what do you think its worth? Thanks all
I've had my Mahlkonig vario for about 18months now and I'm looking to upgrade to something that has an adjustment mechanism that is a little more precise and stable. My only real requirements are that it has to be doserless and not look out of place in a domestic kitchen ... and of course that it is actually better than the Vario (my only real complaint is it's vague adjustment mechanism) Along those lines I'd put together a list of likely candidates ... But I'm not sure what else there is available that would be an upgrade over the Vario so hence the post. Mahlkonig Pro M Espresso - Nice size and uses the same burrs as a K30 so can't be too bad? But is it a good step up from the Vario? HG-One - Should be a big step up in precision over the Vario as it so simple ... availability might be problem, production is delayed & there will be a mad rush when back in stock? Would I be annoyed by the stability when cranking + I'm not 100% sold on the look of it. Compak K8 Fresh - Like the styling and the electronic interface but it is a big unit! Compak K10 Fresh - Same as above + a price premium for the conical burrs
