  1. In Carlisle and for collection only. Starting bid is £50 and no reserve https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Izzo-Alex-Coffee-Machine-Twin-Boiler/123506112201?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  2. Just finished disassembling, cleaning and reassembling my new grinder so thought it would be the perfect time to post my set up. So here is my Izzo Alex MK1 and Compak K10, next to my Gaggia Classic and Compak K3. The pictures don't really show how much bigger the K10 is to the K3. Really happy with my set up and shows that you can get a good one cheaply, if you are willing to scour eBay for weeks and clean for a couple days. Posting this while waiting for my machine to heat up, so I can make my first coffee with the new grinder. Does still need work, grinder is
  3. Hi all, for sale is my Alex Izzo ii Espresso machine. This has been my own machine for a few years and am only selling as have stopped drinking proper coffee. When I bought it I totally dismantled & descaled every part plus serviced the E61 including replacing all springs, o rings and seals with a genuine service kit from Bella Barista. The Anti vacuum valve is an improved version with a pipe attached meaning it vents into the water tank avoiding the usual build up of grime on the boiler. While in my possession the Izzo has been used exclusively with Volvic bottled water so there i
  4. Hi, got an izzo alex which normally would cut out when tank is near empty and stop pumping, sounding the alarm buzzer, but twice now it has failed to stop pumping letting the pump run near dry. Possible it's the gicar box or something else?
  5. Hi, I've been getting 'under the hood' of my Duetto II this weekend. Originally to solve the slow steam boiler fill up, but I've been having a look around I can see some build up ( I think calcium?) on the bottom of the steam boiler where the heating elements enter. So I was wondering if anyone had seen this or knows about it? Should I be concerned? Is it a sign of the seal failing maybe? I've also got to sort out the insulation on the boiler as a lot of it has solidified and is crumbling away. I read @DavecUK blog about this using the snow skirt tree (http://coffeetime.wikidot.com/insula
  6. Hi, I've got the Alex Duetto II and was having the problem with the steam boiler filling slowly and at points not filling at all before just turning off and not working. After looking on here, I saw @Bob_McBob had posted a solution to this (thanks to him for sharing ). So I had a go at a go at doing what he said and low and behold there was the metal gauze that was compacted in there fairly tightly! I couldn't see any obvious signs of debris, but you can check it out for yourself in the photo. Now, I didn't know how to do the backflush part the he talked about, so I just removed it (as you ca
  7. Hi all, I am looking for an E61 machine with a budget of around a £1000. I am looking to buy a machine from Bella Barista, as I have heard that they are excellent to deal with ( good customer service etc). I did have my heart set on the Andreja Premium but that was really stretching my budget and in any case it has now gone up another £50 to £1200... doh I have also been eyeing up the Rocket Cellini Classic for quite some time. The machine seems to fit the bill for me, but I am concerned at one comment in the review that was done for BB. Regarding the steaming performance, the
  8. Hi Guys I have a Gaggia 'Coffee' espresso machine. I've had it about 5 years and it works fine. If I were to buy a 'better' machine (Rancilio Silvia seems a popular one) would it enable me to make a better cup of coffee? I make cappuccinos. In other words, what does a more expensive machine do compared with a cheaper one? Cheers Dave
  9. IMHO another bargain on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gruppo-Izzo-Vivi-Espresso-Machine-/180556579026?pt=UK_BOI_Restaurant_RL&hash=item2a0a02c0d2 Gots to love that the izzo name isn't exactly widely recognised, helluva lot of kit for the moolah.
  10. Hi, I'm new to the forum, but not a newbie at making coffee Over the past 10 years, I've used a Nuevo Simonelli (sp?) machine, and more recently a KitchenAid Artisan machine. The KitchenAid has been really disappointing - I'm on my second one now, which has again started leaking. When it is working properly, and I can get the grind right (KitchenAid burr grinder), it makes very good coffee, but it is SO inconsistent. Given this lack of consistency, I have been tempted by a top beans-to-cup machine, but it's not what I really want, as I'm sure the coffee won't be as good. I was
  11. NOW SOLD! I've posted this elsewhere (TMC and CG) but as my "journey" with my Izzo Alex started here I wanted to give any Alex owner on here the chance to benefit as well... I'm expecting the handles to be delivered tomorrow (Weds) so can post them out later this week. I'll fit them to my machine within minutes of receiving them, so will hopefully be able to post a picture or two at some point tomorrow or Thursday as well. I've just been looking to add some handles to the warming tray on my Izzo Alex Duetto II - and have bought some 200mm Mentor ones (as per the HB "Alex Duetto
